Drawing from 28 years working in the addiction recovery profession, while working in residential and outpatient treatment, my practice helps those who would like to pursue recovery from alcohol or drug addiction without the cost and time commitment of formal rehab. The ideal client for my practice is one who is experiencing consequences from their alcohol and/or drug use and wants to get sober or explore the possibility of such. I also work with families that have an addicted loved one and would like some direction. I have been sober myself for 30 years and have a passion to helps others receive the gift of recovery.
Clients are educated on addiction and recovery principles used in treatment centers across the country, including ones I have supervised. I specialize in relapse prevention, developing personal sober support systems, coping with uncomfortable emotions, building self-esteem, and meeting the client where they are, rather than imposing my own goals onto them.
Most addiction treatment centers are good at teaching recovery tools to use when a craving strikes. However, I specialize in teaching tools to actually avoid entering the craving cycle in the first place. This, along with providing a safe environment to talk about and explore the feelings that are avoided by substance use is what sets my practice apart.
