Some frameworks tapped for clinical understanding are: attachment, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, empowerment, and humanistic theories.
Why go to therapy? You might seek therapy when experiencing emotional pain or stress, even confusion about a situation or about yourself. Life challenges can pile up and seem overwhelming. Worry can interfere with relationships, work, and sleep. One goal of therapy is to relieve stress and every session should offer greater understanding of issues and relief in some way. Maybe you feel all alone with your concerns—it’s normal to feel that way. Therapy offers a place of understanding and acceptance, a place to be heard, and for you to feel safe with all of your feelings and thoughts, even those that you might feel are strange.

These include, Relational Psychodynamic Theory, Attachment Theory, and Trauma Theory.
I seek to create a warm, down-to-earth, and accepting experience for you to explore the hard-ass things in life. Many of us, myself included, were rarely taught how to connect with and understand our emotions, and so when we experience difficult feelings like shame, fear, grief, and pain, and we don’t know how to engage them in a helpful way. But that can change. We will work together to promote positive change and restore direction, meaning, and resilience during these difficult times. We will be teammates in our work together.

I have an eclectic person-centered style that uses elements of attachment theory, narrative therapy, object relations, and psychodynamic theory.
You find yourself repeating the same cycles but can’t figure out how to break free. Your relationship is strained, or you struggle to pick the ‘right’ person. Perhaps, you’re in a time of transition and feel unanchored or dysregulated. Whatever the reason, you’re here because something needs to change. You’re ready to create a better, more fulfilling life for yourself.

Among my clinical specialties are EMDR, ACT, & Psychodynamic Processing, but the most important aspect of treatment is therapeutic rapport.
I believe that meeting people where they are in life, the inherent strength that every client possesses, and a strong therapeutic relationship are the most important aspects of therapy. I work with people seeking help with healing from trauma, who are experiencing dissociation, who are trans/gender non-conforming, who have queer identities, who are military or military families, and anyone else who wants to work through their anxiety, depression, or other emotional difficulties. I believe in body positivity/neutrality, sex positivity, and anti-racism/sexism. I'm offering online therapy in Washington State.

Primarily utilizing a method called CIMBS, along with attachment research and psychodynamic principles, we focus on finding curiosity and compassion to help you feel more safe and connected to yourself and others.
I work with women who experience high anxiety and panic attacks, have a history of trauma or neglect, and feel disconnected from their bodies. I believe in a Body + Brain approach to healing, informed by neuroscience, to help us feel more integrated and whole inside ourselves.

I use relational psychodynamic methods, with insights from CBT and others.
Therapy can help you to cope with heightened anxiety, depression, loneliness, and lack of purpose. With online video conferencing, I provide regular therapy without you coming into the office, in addition to in-person availability. Therapy provides a safe place to ask the questions that scare us, to find connection and healing, to feel good and be authentic, and take charge of our lives. I support clients' efforts to gain insight into the sources of their challenges and pain, find connection, make positive changes in relationships, identify strengths and resources, cope with personal history, and take charge of their life.

As a psychodynamic therapist, I am concerned with how you've experienced relationships throughout your life and in utilizing our relationship as therapist and client for your healing and growth.
At some point, many of us can be overwhelmed by feelings anxiety, anger, disconnectedness -- or maybe we simply feel stuck in life. These painful places are not just emotional experiences; they can also be seen as spiritual. They carry the potential to transform us. The key to unlocking such transformation is to listen deeply enough to discover the meaning inherent in our most difficult experiences. I can help you to do that; it is the work I love to do. My goal is to help you discover greater freedom by connecting with your own deepest wisdom.

My specialty in psychodynamic therapy, CBT, and ACT allows me to offer insight and hope.
Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. If you're in a cycle of depression, stress, or anxiety, it's time to prioritize and care for yourself. When suffering goes unchecked it has a way of affecting your personality, your performance, and your relationships. You lose perspective, patience, and the ability to cope effectively. In time, negative thinking becomes a way of life.

I do this using my training in psychodynamic and relational psychology which emphasizes the the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist.
My ideal clients are children, teens and adults seeking greater self-understanding and inner wholeness. For kids, I help with big emotions, social struggles, learning differences and managing life changes. Teens come to me for identity development, relationships, school pressures, family issues and mood disorders. Adults see me for anxiety, trauma, personal growth and chronic health challenges. Their goals are to feel understood, express themselves, gain tools to relate healthier with themselves and others and rewrite old narratives that hold them back.

My work is grounded in psychodynamic and Jungian traditions, self-actualization, somatic embodiment, and meditation - in what makes us feel, think, and act as we do.
Would you like to feel more whole, more at ease with yourself, more alive in your life? Coming to psychotherapy, we find we often don't know our hearts and minds, why we suffer, and what will allow change. I offer psychotherapy for late teens and adults wanting to dive deep for real change - greater awareness, bringing light into the shadows, renegotiating who you are and what it is to be alive. I'm particularly oriented to helping unravel complex trauma histories, and supporting those emerging from difficult families of origin where you weren't seen, heard, or given space to become who you truly are.

I work from the relational psychodynamic lens.
Hi! I’m Dave McNew, a licensed clinical psychologist. I work to help those with marginalized identities (sexually & gender queer, BIPOC) to heal chronic struggles with trauma, anxiety, and depression. I use my passion for relational healing, mindfulness, and self-compassion to build space in which you can know yourself more fully and live more authentically. I help to cultivate more safety and joy in your relationships with others, and with yourself. I make space for you to face the parts of yourself that are hardest to feel. Where there was pain and confusion, I help you find greater calm, peace, and connection.

My therapeutic modality is a blend of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy and meaning-making.
I am an insight based therapist and believe that so much of therapy is about connecting important dots and understanding how they inform our own origin stories. I honor the therapeutic relationship and what it means to support clients at their pace as they work through their own therapeutic process. My goal is to provide a space for people where they can more deeply understand themselves and the relationships around them; understand how the various spheres of influence (e.g., family or origin, religious upbringing) can shape our thoughts/beliefs in the present, as well as gain clarity on the direction they want to go in the future.
