Hello. I am a therapist in private practice with over 20 yrs experience in a variety of settings. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, am licensed as an LMFT, and certified as an alcohol and drug counselor. Essentially, this work is about Resilience and Joy. With those qualities in mind, therapy in my practice usually includes some skill building in the areas of mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), self soothing, and assertive communication. With CBT we gain insight into the nature of mind and emotions, and become more able to manage them rather than being controlled by them.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor that have been serving the rural area for the past 10 years in a Community Based Mental Health Center. I am now in my Private Practice. My style is direct, practical, nurturing, challenging, strength based and eclectic. I feel that I'm a pretty easy going person and look forward to meeting you. ​ I specialize in identifying your negative thoughts and beliefs, connecting your past to your present to build a more authentic future and assist you on learning coping and life skills to manage your overall mental health. ​

Clients I work with seek a better understanding of how stressful life experiences effect their mental, emotional and relationship health. These difficulties are often recognized as increased anxiety, depression, difficulty coping with daily tasks, sleep disruption, situational avoidance, crisis and trauma, relationship/intimacy stress, changes in eating, energy, and activity. Clients seek support to learn how to cope with identity, intimacy, connection and communication difficulties. Treatment goals are designed with a person centered, integrative focus to bridge mental and emotional health with lifestyle wellness.

I offer individual and family counseling to the Grinnell and surrounding communities. My services are confidential, strength based and focused on your individual needs. I have experience as a clinician in the areas of adoptions, foster care, working with adolescents and adults of all ages. I have specialized in treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, grief and loss. I believe that emotional well-being lies within each person and as a therapist I will work with you to help you discover your emotional strength and health.

I provide counseling to individuals, children, families, and couples by assisting them in recognizing their potential strengths and resilient ability to overcome life’s challenges. I strive to provide competent, compassionate, and client-centered counseling that supports individuals in processing past issues and managing struggles.

I became a therapist with a goal to intervene at early ages with children/youth who are at risk with the hopes to minimize long term behavioral issues that lead into criminal behavior. I currently work with children aged 8 and above and adults/couples/families who experience a variety of symptoms and real-life problems. Currently I am only accepting Tele-health clients.
