I have a Person Centered approach to reflect, validate, and support each client as they journey through their counseling experience. I enjoy working with Client to identify their goals and support them as they heal.

We provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for today's growing geriatric population and offer evidence based and individualized solutions for dealing with the challenges that come with normal aging, health considerations, mood changes, trauma, stroke and dementia. We establish a diagnosis, identify cognitive & functional strengths & weaknesses, provide support and education, cognitive rehabilitation training, identify resources to remain at home, help determine if higher level of care is needed, assess the need for assistance with finances, medical decisions, & driving, and offer recommendations for managing difficult behaviors.

Walking alongside you as you seek therapy is my passion. Discovering who we are, where we came from and what has transpired in our lives is vitally important in understanding how we relate to others and the world around us. My approach to counseling utilizes the Family Systems Model and Cognitive-Behavioral techniques.  I believe our past experiences and environments help us to develop how we think and respond to life’s stresses.  This is where CBT can be helpful in changing false thinking and negative responses. As a client understands themselves and their current situation they can change their thinking process and subsequently their behaviors.

I specialize in work with individuals who experience Anxiety Disorders (OCD, General Anxiety, Phobias), Depression, Insomnia, Autism Spectrum Disorders as well as those with medical or complex presentations (e.g. depression and diabetes). I believe therapy must involve a human connection and have come to find a good sense of humor is critical to the work done in therapy. Without a strong therapeutic relationship, it is nearly impossible to make progress. However, within the context of a collaborative, supportive environment, CBT tools can be very useful. When CBT tools are not helpful, eccentric evidence-based practices may be.

I believe growth and change happen when you are given a safe place to work on your goals. Together, we can work towards making sense of challenging situations and circumstances. When working with clients, I see people as unique individuals who are trying to find their own meaning for their lives and a purpose in life. Through therapy we can learn so much about ourselves and our goals which we might not even be aware of up to this point. Part of my belief in therapy is centered in the idea that each person is capable of reaching their desired self or achieving self actualization. I believe individuals and relationships are trying to find their best possible versions of self. In my practice I emphasize promoting communication and emotional awareness.

The emphasis of my work includes treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, interpersonal difficulties, psycho-spiritual issues, ADHD, and child/adolescent behavior problems.
