I work well with individuals ages 10 & up, couples and families. I am trained in the treatment of eating disorders and reIated concerns. I have also worked with many couples with marital and other relationship concerns, and I have worked with many families dealing with divorce, substance abuse and parenting concerns. I have also worked with individuals on a variety of issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, emotional and behavioral concerns, academic concerns, relationship concerns, anger management and codependency.

Laura has over 30 years of experience in both public and private mental health settings and has maintained a private practice in Lafayette, LA since 1995. She offers a variety of treatment options designed to provide effective, competent, individualized psychotherapy to individuals with diverse issues and concerns. In a non-judgmental setting, clients are encouraged to achieve goals by utilizing skills and interventions to improve functioning.

When you're feeling overwhelmed and tired from endless worrying or obsessive thought cycles, you find yourself avoiding more, overthinking more, and trying to prevent or predict anything that can go wrong. People tell you to "just relax" or that "there's nothing to worry about", but if it were that easy, you would have already done that. You begin to feel depressed, miserable, and stuck. It seems like you’ve tried everything, but nothing seems to work, at least not for very long.

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples develop a more efficient way to communicate their needs and emotions. Through collaborative work, intercultural couples will learn to utilize their cultural differences to create a more compassionate and integrative atmosphere for their relationship, which will, consequently, improve their marital satisfaction. I also treat adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, PNES, trauma, PTSD, and other trauma-related symptoms using EMDR techniques among other evidence-based approaches. Parenting consultation and therapy are available in-person and online.

I see majority of mental health symptoms as unprocessed negative past experiences that have been stored in the nervous.
