About
I received my Master's Degree (MA) in Counseling Psychology as well as my BA in Psychology from Trinity Christian College. Prior to receiving my degree I worked as a CNA with elderly patients who suffered from Alzheimer's and Dementia. In my undergrad coursework I specialized in working with children and teens with Special Needs, both behavioral and cognitive. My previous counseling experiences have allowed me the chance to work with a variety of diagnoses, cultures and populations in several different settings that include but not limited to; individual, group, inpatient as well as outpatient.
During my journey as a counselor I have developed a non-judgmental approach that creates a warm, empathic, genuine, and down-to-earth environment for clients to feel safe. I believe that it is important for the client and myself to build a trusting and respectful relationship so that the client is able to be open and honest about their needs and wants.
I utilize various therapeutic techniques, including but not limited to; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Art Therapy, Attachment-based, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Culturally Sensitive, Dialectical (DBT), Eclectic, Family / Marital, Family Systems, Mindfulness-based (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Play Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Transpersonal.
