About
I specialize in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for OCD & anxiety. This straight-forward approach helps you identify triggers (such as negative intrusive thoughts or stressful situations) which create discomfort. This anxiety leads to behaviors such as avoidance or compulsions. CBT helps you break this self-defeating cycle by reducing ruminative thinking and learning anxiety-tolerating techniques. In addition, I help you learn healthier coping strategies to be more effective interpersonally, more efficient with your time, appropriately regulate mood swings, tolerate painful emotions and decrease self-sabotaging behaviors.
Dr. Roatta's clinical training was done at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center, where she also held a voluntary faculty position until 2003 studying PTSD. She has co-authored several publications in the field of behavioral medicine, and has co-presented at eleven national conferences.
Currently Dr. Roatta is only in a clinical setting, as a solo practitioner specializing in the treatment of anxiety utilizing evidenced-based treatment modalities. Therapy is provided in English and Spanish to adults and adolescents in the Coral Gables/South Miami area.
