When we experience these issues, we need to regain balance and begin living with a new normal. I am here to offer a safe space, in my office or online, which you can heal, find your way, and flourish. I primarily work with adults 17+ that are living with traumas, traumatic brain injury, military lifestyle issues, law enforcement, or any areas revolving around those barriers (e.i., depression, anxiety, coping, life transitions, etc.).

I am a veteran with extensive experience with first responders, veterans, addicts and others experiencing trauma, grief, loss, and abuse. I develop coping strategies to help them master, minimize or tolerate conflict and stress.

Our experiences, both positive and negative, shape who we are, but we don't have to stay stuck where we are. I believe that the opportunity for significant change occurs in healthy relationships; and that healthy relationships are built on trust, mutual respect, and cooperation. In my practice, I seek to create an environment that allows a healthy therapeutic relationship to develop, which can then be a model that my patients can apply to their relationships outside of the therapeutic environment. Hello and Welcome to Walk With Grace. I am Rachel Disney, LCSW. Helping others has long been my passion. My journey has brought me to this very moment and I want my practice to be a place of healing and a safe shelter from life's storms. My foundational belief is that every individual is deserving of healing and growth. Anxiety, depression, life changes, and the stressors of everyday life can be overwhelming. I enjoy partnering with people and helping them realize their full potential for growth within a holistic approach to counseling. The biggest reason many don't seek counseling is the fear of reliving the past. Forward facing trauma therapy proves you don't always have to go back to move forward. There is a different way. There is a better way. We start with the symptoms of the present. Then look at how trauma affects the brain and changes how we, think, feel, and behave here in the present. Learning how to fix and reset the brain while decreasing symptoms is our goal at Sessions of Serenity. Done at your pace, in a way that helps restore safety, creates calm and empowers the client. Your past does not have to continue robbing you of your future.

The need for counseling is not evidence that you're a problem. It's evidence that you're a human being. And as far as I can tell, counseling is for human beings. Because if you're like me, you have legitimate needs, limits, complex feelings and desires, hopes, dreams, as well as disasters and dis-ease and pain. We need one another to navigate the uncertainty of this shared humanity. Typically, my clients are looking more for understanding and presence-within-the-pain than for relief and escape -- though, that's part of an honest struggle at times as well. I am honored to be on this journey with you.

Clients utilize my testing and evaluation services to determine the nature of their learning difficulties and to develop a treatment plan tailored to help them overcome these difficulties. Many clients receive counseling to help them to improve their school or work performance and to improve their self-esteem. Referrals are made to medical doctors if medications are deemed necessary (i.e., for ADHD, depression, etc.). Also, I am passionate about helping others with various emotional difficulties, relationship problems, and improving general life satisfaction through individual, family, and group therapies.

My own path of discovery began following a tragic car accident which resulted in my husband and two of our friends losing their lives and I sustained critical injuries. My recovery from my physical injuries would take almost two years. My recovery from my mental, emotional and spiritual wounds would take much longer. It was during my process of healing that I was given a very definite call to be a Mental Health Counselor. What seemed like the most unlikely time for someone to help others turned out to be one of the biggest blessings of my life.

Solutions Education Center, Inc. serves adults and youth ages 13-18. We provide early intervention for prevention of substance use disorders as well as assessments and outpatient interventions for individuals who have developed a substance use disorder or are at risk. Solutions provides gender specific treatment opportunities, having both men's groups as well as LGBTQIA friendly groups. We provide certified facilitators for Spanish speaking individuals. Solutions Education Center seeks to mitigate Adverse Childhood Experiences through interventions targeting family violence and parenting programs.

You're accused of being dramatic and even you don't understand why. You're sensitive and frustrated easily and you feel like you can't handle anything. You struggle with boundaries and saying no.
