My greatest incentive as a therapist is to help clients explore different ways to make positive changes in their lives by providing them with a better outlook into the future. I know that everyone needs someone to talk to who will listen to them without any judgment. In my sessions, I want each client to feel accepted and heard in a safe environment; a place where they can find themselves and do some searching to move past any issues that are preventing them from living a healthier lifestyle.

I have been working successfully with individuals, couples and families for almost 30 years. Together we will clarify your goals and through our mutual collaboration positive change can occur. If you commit to the process you will make a dramatic shift in your life; (stop repetitive, self-defeating behaviors; start to heal from deeply rooted pain which you may have previously been unable to resolve; learn to actively listen and genuinely hear what your partner, family member, client or boss is saying to you.

I have established a private practice that is a warm, nonjudgemental, confidential, and culturally sensitive setting. In this comfortable environment you will feel safe to explore and resolve any issues that have become to challenging for you to resolve on your own. I am an experienced professional, licensed by the State of New Jersey. Depending on your needs I provide individual, marital/couples, and/or family counseling. My education and experience include psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and ego resolution, as well as spiritual counseling which make this a successful comprehensive service.

I have always maintained the belief that individuals who seek clinical support are the healthy ones- they recognize that something is wrong and want to make a change. Becoming aware is the first step to moving forward. However, awareness without action can create, frustration, depression, anxiety and an overwhelming sense of hopelessness. It is my job to navigate your complicated and conflicted emotions/behaviors to bring you to a place where you can make healthy choices and decisions. My goal is to teach you strategies that will break the cycle to create a new way of being - to live in the present and plan for the future.

I provide long-term psychodynamic therapy to adults and couples. I focus on exploring interpersonal and trauma-based patterns, and how they shape personality, emotions, and everyday functioning. I also use mindfulness, problem solving, and other strategies if your needs call for them. Meeting more than once per week can facilitate this work but I am open to your preference. I seek to create an open, engaged, comfortable, and constantly evolving therapeutic relationship that motivates you to work through your struggles. I individualize my approach to your unique needs and continually adapt as therapy proceeds.

I specialize in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of anxiety and anxiety-related disorders, depression, trauma, combat trauma, PTSD, and life-cycle challenges like divorce and job/career change. Ideally, patients are interested in a direct, focused, and assertive approach to therapy and are willing to put in the time and effort between sessions to achieve their goals. I believe the goal in therapy must be to resolve the problem, not cope with it. If you've been frustrated by just talking and not doing, I may be able to help you make the changes you're wanting. I prefer to think of my work as psychological rehab rather than therapy.
