I am most passionate about working with women and LGBTQIA+ adults that are seeking support with anxiety, grief, complex trauma , sexuality, spirituality, alcohol use, neurodiversity, and body image or body size related issues.
Welcome! I'm Alex (she/her). I believe that therapy is one of the most powerful tools we have to disrupt oppressive systems. My goal is to provide you with a safe container to receive and embody empathy, self-compassion, radical acceptance, and authenticity. My approach to therapy is relational, strengths-based and trauma -informed from an integrative feminist and humanistic theoretical lens. I often incorporate tools from somatic experiencing, narrative therapy, DBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based practices rooted in eastern philosophies.

If you have experienced trauma of any form, suffer from alcohol/drug addiction, anxiety, depression, abuse, self harm or suffer from suicidal thoughts and are seeking help to heal, reach out.
Not accepting new clients. Hi, there! I am interested in building our relationship's foundation on trust. I believe client and therapist relationship is the only way to produce positive outcomes. When this is established, a beautiful environment is formed to which you, the client, may take steps to heal. We will work together as a team to change negative thinking patterns to positive thinking patterns, fill your tool belt with healthy coping mechanisms and ultimately smash your goals of therapy. This is a non judgmental zone, there are no power struggles and you will feel welcomed.

My primary focus is the study and practice of trauma informed therapies.
We all have had times when we find ourselves contemplating our understanding of life and whether our life has progressed on the path that we had envisioned. We may be experiencing states of grief, self-doubt, and worry about ourselves, our relationships, or the condition of the world in general. It can often feel frustrating and overwhelming to accept this experience and we can find ourselves asking, "What did I ever do to deserve this; why me and why now?" These are often the scenarios when we require support and a new perspective with which to consider life's challenges.

I specialize in areas related to: Trauma , LGBTQ, Substance Abuse, and Neurodivergence.
I chose the name 'Voyagers' for this practice because I feel we are all on a journey together traveling, through time and space. I picture the metaphor of a ship navigating the open sea, riding the waves just as we do in our lives. Realistically, there will always be unavoidable waves in our lives- some larger than others- and sometimes we need a helping hand to voyage through safely in a way that embraces our unique individuality.

Sandtray therapy, an Expressive Arts modality, provides children and adolescents opportunities for exploring thoughts and feelings in addition to processing trauma , either verbally or non-verbally.

My goal as a therapist is to understand a person and their situation by paying close attention to them, asking questions, and using what I have learned from past experience. I think understanding different parts of a person’s life helps create a more complete picture of what is keeping them stuck, unhappy, unaware, or unsatisfied. From there it’s possible to help make changes and face difficult circumstances. My clinical and research work has focused on anxiety, stress, PTSD , moral injury, and helping people suffering from the impact of trauma .

For over a decade, I’ve worked with individuals in some form of transition or major life change, often with trauma histories not too far below the surface. In each situation, I’ve found the most transformational interactions to be those rooted in both insight and somatic practices so it is a gift to craft a professional life at that precise intersection. Guided by genuine care and warmth, I support clients in gently attuning to the “data” stored in their body as a springboard to better understand, and compassionately respond to, core needs of safety, ease, worth, and authentic connection (with both self and others).

In addition to talk therapy, I use EMDR, effective both for reducing/eliminating PTSD , depression and anxiety, and enhancing creative/athletic performance.
This is a very stressful time. My intention as a therapist is to offer a safe, welcoming opportunity for you to explore your challenges, difficulties and hopes. Together we will look at your concerns and how to manage them. We can explore your views of yourself and your life, the meanings you have given things, and other options you might consider. We can develop and practice new skills, and help you move toward greater peace, both within, and in your daily life. We will identify and clarify your personal strengths, resources and sources of inspiration to draw upon during this difficult time, as well as for the future.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
