If you are suffering, you deserve relief. If you are anxious or depressed - or even if you don’t know what is going on - you can feel better. Some things that bring people to therapy include: feeling overwhelmed, feeling like life is unmanageable, or feeling like it’s hard to get through the day. Therapy can and does work and can bring you relief.

One of the best things my dad ever said to me was: Unless you believe in reincarnation, it’s time to be happy now. (Personally, I think this applies even if you do believe in reincarnation.) How to make the most of our time, our relationships, and ourselves - for me, these are the key questions that led me to become a marriage and family therapist. Along with traditional talk therapy, I use EMDR if desired (I am EMDR Certified), as well as IFS, to help you work through present challenges and past difficult experiences so that you can live more freely in the here and now - unencumbered by old self-defeating beliefs and fears.

I believe that the most healing, transformative therapeutic work occurs when there is an authentic relationship between therapist and client. I provide an environment which fundamentally supports a feeling of safety by witnessing you where you are with curiosity and without judgment. For many people, feeling safe also involves being able to set their own pace in therapy.

I help clients feel less anxious and more authentic in their relationships. I believe that many people experience struggle in their lives as a result of growing distant from their emotional compasses. I work with clients to reconnect with these aspects of their experience. I also offer supervision services to fellow therapists who are working toward licensure.

I find that that the ideal patient is someone who wants to make their quality of life better. No two people are the same, and the variety of mental and emotional difficulty that people deal with is vast. In psycho-dynamic psychotherapy we talk about our problems to help clients can face their struggles and make improvements. There is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It is the thorough pursuit of the truth and its remedies.

Different problems force us to take stock in who we are and how we are living. We struggle through anxiety, sadness, trauma, loneliness; some of us have used unhealthy coping mechanisms to get by. Eventually, we come to learn that asking for help is one of the most powerful actions we can take.

I believe that everyone deserves a second chance and work with each individual to develop an unique approach to develop the stability that has been illusive. I have a person centered approach and will employ a combination of methods that best match your needs.

I have experience with a diversity of issues including anxiety, depression and relationship concerns. I am a trained depth psychotherapist (Jungian-oriented), and am concerned with addressing symptoms at their root cause. I balance this approach by offering avenues of relief from symptoms in the present. Easing the burden of suffering in the here-and-now allows us to engage more fully with the work of addressing original causes, and thereby contributes to long-term resolution.

I invite clients into a supportive atmosphere where they can share and explore their different emotions, experience empathy, and being fully heard. Clients will develop skills to better manage their upsets, fears, or relational challenges, both past and present. From a mindful perspective, I challenge clients to create a ‘half-full' mindset, to gradually move beyond emotional reactivity or overwhelm. Regardless of the challenge, clients will learn to see the opportunities in life, rather than falling victim to upsets, and will gradually move into a new way of being - one with a renewed sense of possibility, peace, and freedom.

Stress and challenges in life are often compounded with systemic oppression, relationship conflict, pain, and societal pressure. This all can make it more difficult to access external resources as well as our intrinsic capacity for healing, creativity and fulfillment. I seek to work with people who want to become more aware of themselves so their true potential and fulfillment can be realized and embodied. Together, in a space of confidential support, we can explore constraints and burdens, focus on your needs, and work towards your goals at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Are you searching for meaning beyond the surface of daily life? Do you feel torn between the longing for connection and the instinct to retreat? These tensions are not just challenges; they are invitations to explore the depths of who you are. Everyone has their own path in life and their own meanings to make. I see therapy as a place to uncover connections between past and present relationships, emotions and experiences and discover how you are willing to live.

Hey, I’m Dom. Over the past couple of decades as a counselor, I’ve found that positive change begins with taking accountability for our choices. When we slow down, reflect, and make intentional decisions, we tend to feel more grounded—and that creates space for stronger relationships, deeper confidence, and greater resilience. In my work, I help people focus on what’s within their control, take meaningful steps forward, and build self-awareness along the way. It’s not always comfortable, but that discomfort is often where the most lasting growth happens—especially when navigating stress, uncertainty, or major life transitions.

My goal as a therapist is to understand a person and their situation by paying close attention to them, asking questions, and using what I have learned from past experience. I think understanding different parts of a person’s life helps create a more complete picture of what is keeping them stuck, unhappy, unaware, or unsatisfied. From there it’s possible to help make changes and face difficult circumstances. My clinical and research work has focused on anxiety, stress, PTSD, moral injury, and helping people suffering from the impact of trauma.

I offer a welcoming, compassionate, and non-judgmental space to share your story. Sometimes, problems we face — whether they come with a diagnosis or not — may be overwhelming, debilitating, paralyzing, unhealthy, or destructive to ourselves or our relationships. I work collaboratively to help people deconstruct and free themselves from the grip of problems that may be overwhelming and oppressive and move toward preferred ways of living and thriving.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
