My practice centers around building relationships and learning how to take care of ourselves and others. I find that people come to therapy hoping to find someone to tell them the answers, and my goal is to help people become of aware of the answers they already have: I am not the expert, you are. My practice is based in attachment theory and trauma recovery. My focus is helping people understand the physiological and developmental processes behind their behaviors, and guiding people towards lasting change while providing a caring and compassionate place to heal.
I hold an MS in Community Counseling from UW-Whitewater and I have advanced training in Sex Therapy, Trauma recovery, and Substance abuse. I also completed the Sexual Health Certificate Program at the University Michigan and I am an AASECT-certified sex therapist. I have completed Level II training in EMDR and the Developmental Model of Couples Therapy.
I am very creative and I use an eclectic variety of processes to build the therapeutic relationship:I see the relationship that we will build together as vitally important to the healing process. I see our work together as a collaborative effort from a humanist, non-judgmental, decolonizing perspective.
