About
I’m Velma, a licensed clinical social worker, IFS (Internal Family Systems) Level 1 Trained and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) trained. I specialize in trauma-informed treatment of anxiety, complex trauma, depression and grief. I work collaboratively with you to resolve physical, emotional, social or spiritual challenges that often present as anxiety, depression, complicated grief, unresolved trauma, and poor relationships. I can teach you to hold difficult emotions and memories gently and how separate those from your actions. It is possible to regain your sense of self, sense of others, sense of safety and belonging.
My role is that of trusted professional and team member facing life changes, fears or unresolved traumas alongside of you. As a trauma specialist, I help build a foundation of inner safety and security by offering tools for hope, healing and transformation. The process becomes a catalyst for resiliency, awakening and living a healthier more joy-filled life.
Clients tell me that I’m compassionate, empathetic and wise. I operate from the belief that the client is the expert in their life. Our sessions are tailored to your needs and I make every effort to meet you where you are in the present. I know that by being willing to try different methods to resolve problems, change is possible and possible quickly.
