About
I work with adults with trauma related disorders including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Dissociative Disorders including Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). My therapeutic approach involves Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), though I may use other theories or approaches depending on the needs of the client and the therapeutic process. I am also trained in Prolonged Exposure therapy for the treatment of PTSD.
I have over twenty years of clinical experience working with trauma survivors and with people who have Borderline Personality Disorder in inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient settings. I completed the intensive training course for DBT in 2003 and have been running outpatient DBT skills groups since 2004.
I am passionate about helping people who are overwhelmed by their symptoms related to trauma and/or Borderline Personality Disorder. I am available for a phone consultation to see if we are a good fit in working together and to help you "build a life worth living."

Vaughan Counseling Services, LLC's Groups
DBT Skills Group for Adults
In the DBT skills group we cover the four main skill sets of Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotion Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. In the first hour of the group we participate in a mindfulness practice, and we review skills practice and application from the previous week. In the second hour of the group we teach a new set of DBT skills, identify how to practice the skills over the upcoming week, and then do a wind-down activity.
