About
I see individuals with anxiety, depression, phobias, dissociative disorders, and with histories of trauma, (including service members returning from Afghanistan and Iraq). I use EMDR combined with other client-centered therapies. What is most important, however, is that your therapy is tailored to your individual needs and does not follow a strict set of guidelines. Using a humanistic and transpersonal approach, we explore how longstanding beliefs and values affect how you feel about yourself and about the choices you make. We will identify and eliminate your "stumbling blocks" so that you feel in control of your destiny.
Memories too painful to recall are stored/locked in a separate part of the brain from where good and neutral memories are stored. Using EMDR and other tools, the painful memories can be processed. In that way, adaptive coping, making decisions based on the present rather than repeating maladaptive behaviors from the past, becomes your new normal.
My job is to help you realize the potential and beauty in yourself. You were born with both. Many of us will stray from our intended goals. You haven't lost anything you used to love about yourself. Those things are just in storage and need to be dusted off, so that once again, you will see yourself shine and will regain your zest for life.
