Welcome to a new style of psychotherapy. Instead of diagnosing you with a "disease" or "disorder" and treating you like a patient, I'm work with you to help you to do three things: (1) understand what happened in your past that led you to the habits and realities you now face that are causing you pain, (2) help you develop the compassion you need in order to (3) develop an unconditional and irrevocable self-love. That's how we heal. We learn to love ourselves unconditionally.
I don't see you as a label. (depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, personality disorder, etc.) You're a human being who did what it took to survive. Some of the behaviors and habits you adopted are healthy and productive. Some aren't. That doesn't give you a disease diagnosis. You're a human being. That's called life and you did the best you could.
If you are motivated to do some deep, hard work, if you're willing to look at the choices you've made honestly and compassionately, if you can imagine loving yourself so much you'd be willing to make some significant changes to be mentally healthy, you and I are a good match.
