About
My approach as a therapist is to work in a collaborative manner to explore underlying thought and behavioral habits that cause stress. Through continuous efforts to apply oneself in this direction, many find unwanted habits begin to exert less of an influence on one's life and a steady growth of relieving qualities of mind can emerge: a sense of connectedness, resilience, flexibility, care, purpose, and wisdom. I work from a relational orientation. This entails examining styles of relating to oneself, others, the world, and at times even examining the therapy relationship itself.
I value mindfulness as a means of working with difficult experiences. Being mindful is paying attention to the present moment with an open, kind, non-judgmental attitude. I have practiced mindfulness for 20 years and help facilitate mindfulness retreats throughout the country along with actively practicing psychotherapy.
I have worked with clients presenting with a range of issues and backgrounds in terms of ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, religious affiliation, gender identity, sexual orientation, and acculturation status. Each treatment plan is unique to account for the individuality of each client.
