Valerie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University and a BS in Psychology from Union College. Valerie currently works as the Survivor Care Navigator for the town of Newtown. Previously, she worked at Liberation Programs. Valerie also volunteered for the Danbury Women's Center as a Domestic Abuse hotline Counselor. In both her family of origin and her home community of Sandy Hook, Valerie has witnessed and experienced the devastating results of trauma. She views trauma though a systemic lens and understands the importance of working with the entire family when focusing on recovery.
Valerie specializes in supporting clients who are experiencing the challenges of infertility and who used or plan to use technologies of third-party parenting, as well as donors and surrogates. Valerie works with women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, the families that support them, and those confronting the challenges associated with genetic testing.
Valerie is a member of the AAMFT. She has completed coursework for School Certification is EMDR Trained. Valerie is currently pursuing RLT certification with Terry Real. Valerie accepts Husky, Optum, Connecticare and private pay, and will help facilitate out-of-network claims as needed.
