Telehealth across Virginia and in-person services are available based on clinician availability.
At WHC, we extend our compassionate support to both teenagers and adults who find themselves grappling with the overwhelming weight of anxiety, the persistent shadows of depression, the lingering effects of trauma stress, or the often disorienting challenges of major life transitions. You may be presenting a capable facade to the world, appearing to be managing your responsibilities and commitments with outward success. However, beneath this surface, you might be experiencing a profound sense of exhaustion, a pervasive irritability that colors your interactions, or a mental loop of overthinking that makes it difficult to find peace.

Many people come to therapy feeling lost, stuck, or adrift—after a major life change, during recovery, or sometimes after years of life feeling the same. Waking up to a life you don’t recognize, or asking yourself “How did I get here?” can feel bewildering, overwhelming, and paralyzing. You don’t have to face these questions alone.

I currently have space for a limited number of clients, with after-hours virtual and in-person appointments available.
I work exclusively with high-achievers in emotionally demanding careers — those who have architected lives they don't quite feel at home in. You're intelligent, capable, emotionally attuned, and deeply responsible. You've spent years becoming someone others can trust, and somewhere along the way, your work became your worth: proof you were safe, valuable, successful, needed, good. Despite everything you've built, you feel emotionally overextended in ways you can barely explain. With clinical experience specializing in addictions and military trauma, I help people like you understand why this happens, and what to do

I have worked with children, adolescents, adults and families for over 30 years. The decision to enter counseling is often a difficult one, but the rewards from a positive and productive experience are abundant. There are challenges at every stage of life that are difficult to manage without support and good information. My goal is to help every client discover what will work best for their situation in the most efficient and respectful process possible. All of us function best when we know what we want and manage our behavior to reach those goals. Good therapy is worth the investment.

I offer on the hour therapy sessions in person, online (or hybrid!).
I have always been drawn to people’s stories and the ways our experiences shape who we become. Many of the people I work with come in feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from carrying things on their own for too long. It is a true privilege to sit with individuals during some of the most difficult and painful seasons of life. My hope is to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, known, and valued. Through curiosity, compassion, and genuine connection, we can explore your story together, begin healing deep wounds, and move toward greater wholeness and freedom.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
