Do you spend your days taking care of others? Who is taking care of you? You may be a healthcare professional in a nursing home, hospital or even physical therapy office. Each patient comes with their own challenges that you tackle successfully, and while you don't hate your job, lately each day leaves you tired. There are probably elements of your personal life that are weighing on you, but there's no time to process anything.
Or maybe you find yourself being a caregiver for a loved one, which presents challenges tangled with emotions and relationship history and perhaps grieving the life you imagined.

Are you wanting to make sense of past experiences and understand how they're still impacting you and your life today? Do you avoid looking in the mirror and compare yourself to other people? Are you trying to separate yourself from how you were raised to become the version of yourself you've always wanted to be?
It can be overwhelming and scary to find a therapist you can share all your most personal information and stories with. But if you're looking for someone you can talk to who will be honest with you, laugh with you, and always have chocolate in stock - then we may work well together.

There are times when we go through life where we appear to be high-functioning on the outside, but on the inside, one may feel stuck-whether emotionally, relationally, or professionally. Perhaps you're struggling with anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, or a sense of not being "good enough." Whether you are a college student trying to navigate academic pressure or someone balancing roles while silently questioning your worth. And perhaps you've reached a point where you are ready to feel more grounded, connected, and whole with the ability to better manage your own emotions and life's challenges.

I have worked extensively in settings with SOF, Veterans, First Responders, medical professionals that worked through the pandemic, people struggling directly with substance use/addiction or in the midst of recovery, people working in austere environments, and facing life transitions.
I work to create a holding space making it possible for clients to access their own thoughts, ideas, and develop personal goals. My work primarily focuses on accompanying individuals on their journey to address trauma in their lives, challenging relationship dynamics, developing a new vision for life, and cultivating a way forward when resistance greets us. Addiction and trauma are closely related, and developing meaningful ways to address the needs for self-comfort and self-awareness instead of destructive patterns of behavior is key to our holistic health.

It's not selfish to put yourself first! Caring for yourself often creates the space needed to be present for the people and responsibilities that matter most in your life. You might be navigating anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Perhaps you’ve been handling things on your own, but lately it feels heavier than usual. My ideal client is someone ready to explore what’s holding them back, uncover their strengths, and begin moving toward a life that feels more authentically theirs.

The same arguments keep going in circles, the distance between you feels exhausting, and you are starting to wonder if things will ever feel easy again. Whether you are navigating a massive life transition, recovering from a breach of trust, or trying to safely explore new relationship dynamics, you do not have to figure this out alone!

Hi, I’m Justine.
Most of the people I work with are used to holding it together.
On the outside, they may seem fine—but internally, they feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck. Many are navigating trauma, anxiety, substance use, or major life transitions. Others have spent years feeling misunderstood, misdiagnosed, or unsure how to make sense of themselves.
At a certain point, pushing through stops working.
That’s usually when people reach out.

I specialize in the full arc of creating lasting change, helping adults and couples move beyond anxiety, ADHD concerns, trauma, perfectionism, people-pleasing, burnout, low self-worth, painful relationship patterns, and communication difficulties. Many of our struggles began as strategies to help us cope, achieve, connect, belong, or stay emotionally safe. Together, we explore how earlier experiences, attachment patterns, unresolved pain, and life transitions shape your relationships, sense of self, and emotional well-being. My goal is to help you move beyond survival and into a more authentic, connected, and fulfilling life.

First Responders Therapists
Why is mental health important for first responders?
As part of their work, first responders are often exposed to high levels of stress, trauma, and physical injury that can put them at a greater risk for serious mental health conditions than the general population. Conditions like PTSD, anxiety, substance use, and depression are more common in first responders, which can greatly reduce quality of life and lead to burnout, sleep disruption, and even suicidal thoughts. Therapy can offer an opportunity for first responders to process difficult on-the-job experiences and develop coping skills to better manage any mental health symptoms they may experience.
How can first responders get access to mental health support?
Many first responders can access therapy for free or at a very low cost through their employer, such as through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Workplaces may also offer or have referral recommendations for support groups, where first responders can meet with others in their profession to receive support. Individuals who would like to access mental health services outside of their employer may use their insurance benefits to see a therapist, which they can find by searching for therapists online or asking for recommendations from their primary care physician.
What type of therapy is best for first responders?
The best therapy approach depends on the mental health concerns of the client. Since many first responders struggle with trauma or PTSD, they may benefit from trauma-specific therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Exposure Therapy, or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Individuals with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or stress may alternatively benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches, which can help clients develop coping skills to manage distressing thoughts.
Can therapy for first responders help with trauma and PTSD?
Therapy can be highly effective in both treating and preventing trauma and PTSD in first responders. Typically, therapy for trauma and PTSD focuses on developing stress management skills and managing intrusive or unwanted thoughts. Therapists working with first responders often help clients strengthen their relationships and reduce harmful coping mechanisms, such as excessive substance use. Additionally, therapists assist first responders in establishing daily habits that support overall mental and physical health and enhance resilience to future stress, such as regular physical exercise, mindfulness practices, and improved eating habits.
