With over 10 years of counseling experience (I took a few years off to raise four children while also supporting my husband with his career in the Navy), I have gained experience working with individuals coping with anxiety, OCD, depression and trauma .
If we share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can't survive -Brene Brown. Life is beautiful, fun and exciting, but...it is also difficult, traumatic, overwhelming, exhausting and incredibly challenging. Our anxiety sometimes gets the best of us and it's often hard to deal with the symptoms. You don't have to suffer from unbearable anxiety. Whether it manifests itself as panic, OCD, irritability, inability to focus, sleeplessness or fear, there is a way out. With education, self awareness and coping techniques you can find your way to a more manageable and peaceful life.

I assist with developing coping skills, processing trauma , addressing mental health, and developing plans to face daily fires.
Are you spending all day running around to keep your world from falling apart? Is your big bright smile and positive attitude a suit of armor to conceal the fire inside? Do you keep yourself busy to avoid any moment of silence because that is where the fire hides? When the fire gets too big does it leave you feeling alone, weak, and vulnerable? My job is to help unleash the power you possess to put out the fires you’re facing.

When people face trauma or loss of connection with their loved ones, they can feel as if their lives are coming undone. Life after trauma can be overwhelming as we begin to feel fragmented, powerless, and without hope. As a U.S. Marine veteran, I also understand the unique struggles and strengths that military life brings. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families build on their strengths to reconnect with others and bring resilience and comfort back into their lives. I believe that emphasizing our strengths is key to our healing, as we see ourselves more whole and more at peace with each new discovery.

Hi there! I see you. Doing the best you can, but still feeling like you are falling short. Struggling with the same worries, and the same hard feelings about yourself year after year. Thinking to yourself "shouldn't I have it figured out by now?!" "how am I STILL dealing with this?" "what's wrong with me?" That is a hard, and very real place, to be. I specialize in working with individuals who have not had success with therapy in the past, and individuals who are dealing with the long term impacts of trauma , persistent depression, relationship issues, and anxiety.

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy can help clients work through difficulties such as depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, relationship challenges and trauma .
We provide equine-assisted psychotherapy utilizing a team approach, consisting of a licensed therapist, an equine specialist and horse(s). This approach is based on the belief that clients have the ability to find the best solutions for themselves when given the opportunity to discover them. The horse is an ideal therapy partner due to its exceptional capacity to read and respond to non-verbal cues. Clients are able to observe their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and the impact on self and others. They can then explore, problem-solve and overcome challenges in the arena which translate into positive changes outside of the arena.

As a military veteran, I believe in using humor, spirituality, relaxation training, mindfulness techniques, or trauma informed yoga to help people as we work together to reach your goals.
Sometimes we struggle with life in ways that make us feel alone, unsafe, stressed or worried. Perhaps life has left you feeling discouraged, off balance or not much like yourself. Do you feel like you have been doing the best you can, even though it has been difficult? It's perfectly normal to feel frustrated or tired of being tired. At times it may even feel like no one understands. Maybe if you could just feel heard or understood, life could seem possible just knowing you did what you did because you only knew what you knew. Working together to gain more skills and tools to continue your journey is not that far. Let's talk!

I am an EMDR trained therapist, which is a modality that is founded upon neuroscience and psychological research to treat PTSD and trauma related concerns.
Life circumstances and experiences can influence our ability to see our strengths and unique selves, as well as effect our quality of life. Through a strong therapeutic relationship, I believe that we can be empowered to further discover our values and strengths. Within this therapeutic journey, I work to incorporate the most current evidence and research-based modalities to assist in the understanding of how our past and present experiences influence our mental and emotional well-being.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
