I specialize in working with children, teens and young adults with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges including substance use .
The times we live in have brought incredible challenges, particularly for our teens and young adults. These challenges can leave us feeling heavily burdened, disoriented, and overwhelmed which can lead depression and anxiety symptoms. Recognizing and overcoming these challenges on our own can be difficult and sometimes prove unrealistic. I am passionate about helping teens, young adults, and families navigate these challenges to achieve happiness, confidence, and success.

I support clients with life stress, depression, anxiety, substance use , women's issues, relationship/family issues, and teens with behavioral disorders.
Accepting clients for W & Thur morning/daytime online. I believe that the effects of therapy are long-lasting. Your therapeutic gains don't stop after the session is over, as you can continue using a reflective lens to think about, talk about, and express your feelings. Additionally, therapy can provide you with a new perspective on life. Therapy not only helps you in the present moment, but it can help you with life long coping skills. With all that is going on in the world, we could all use a listening ear and a fresh perspective. You have nothing to lose by spending this time on yourself. You deserve it. Mental health is HEALTH.

You may have depended on emotional numbing, substance use , or other unhealthy coping to manage what otherwise might have been unbearable.
The experience of trauma and loss changes your entire world view. Tomorrow no longer seems promised or predictable. The past is no longer just the past; at times, the past feels like the present. The fragility of life and closeness of death is now undeniable. What seemed important to you has changed entirely. Meanwhile, others around you are focused on things that seem petty and material, as they plan for a future they assume is certain. As a result, connecting with others becomes difficult and you can find yourself alone. You can feel like you are an alien on the planet you used to call home.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
