Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I know reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, but my hope is that you find this to be a safe, judgment-free space where you can breathe, process what’s on your mind, and feel truly heard. I work primarily with adults navigating stress, uncertainty, grief, depression, and anxiety, and I also support teens 14 and up. I’m especially passionate about helping people through life’s big transitions—whether that’s pregnancy, postpartum, or simply finding your footing again when life feels heavy.

In life, there is so much that is out of your control and it can easily become overwhelming. We all experience adversity at some point in our lives and my hope is to help you realize how resilient you truly are. I believe there is power in telling your story and it is how your healing begins. One of my goals is to empower you to take control of your own narrative and rewrite your story the way you want it to be instead of how it has been written for you.

The most important aspect of counseling is to establish clear goals that the client and counselor set together. I have worked with many families in the Juvenile Justice Department as well as individual and couples counseling. Life can be overwhelming at times and that is why goals and collaborative contracts within the therapeutic relationship help to sort each issue out individually while working towards the desired outcome. I have treated symptoms of anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, adjustment disorders, marital conflict, tic disorders, and oppositional defiant disorder as well as conduct disorder.

If you have made it this far in seeking counseling, there is a resilient, healthy part of you ready for change. Every day represents a clean slate an opportunity to begin to do things differently. Perhaps you are experiencing a crisis, your life has become unmanageable, or you don't know where to turn for help. Perhaps you struggle is more of a slow burn and you are becoming increasingly aware of your dissatisfaction with life. If you are seeking relief, support, or healing, therapy offers the potential to gain a new perspective and learn new skills for dealing with life's challenges.

Encouraging heart and mind to work together through experiential and non-verbal therapies is my passion. I believe in the healing properties of the creative process and I work to create safe spaces for people to explore their own creative process and experience the benefits of relationship and connection. Possible benefits could include promoting feelings of joy and well-being, increasing self-confidence and courage, learning alternative ways to express thoughts and feelings, promoting empathy, and fostering insight to help move toward change.

I offer after-business-hour/weekend tele-therapy appointment times, to make care accessible to health-care workers, working women & couples.
Does this sound like you? The dishes, the kids, the parent you care for, and work (so much work) keep nudging their way to the top of your to-do list until you have become an afterthought. Your overwhelming responsibilities as a provider for your family have begun to weigh on you, after your dedication to your team, as a military service member, got piled on top of it. You're a healthcare worker whose life has been entirely taken over by the demands a managed care environment places on its helping hands (that is your hands). If you see yourself in my clients' stories, you're in the right place.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
