You’re holding it together for everyone else — but inside you feel exhausted, anxious,
overwhelmed, or stuck. Many high-functioning adults quietly carry trauma, grief, depression, and
chronic stress while continuing to work, care for family, and meet expectations. Over time, that
emotional weight becomes too heavy to carry alone. Therapy can be a place where you finally
exhale, process what hurts, and begin to feel like yourself again.
Many of my clients are successful, responsible people who feel overwhelmed behind the scenes due to coping with unresolved trauma, complicated grief, relationship stress, or burnout.

Something happened — recently or years ago — and you haven't felt like yourself since.
I work with trauma survivors, first responders, veterans, and professionals navigating the aftermath of a critical incident or single event that shifted everything. I also work with clinicians, executives, and high-performers who are noticing that something at work has changed — a case that got under their skin, a moment they can't stop replaying, a loss of the confidence they used to take for granted.

Sometimes we just need to feel heard, validated in our feelings and supported in our decisions while other times we need to be challenged in our thoughts, feelings, and actions. I have worked with clients and patients that have needed both of those just at different times in their treatment.

You love each other, so why does it feel this hard? Why does every conversation turn into the same fight, shutdown, or distance? I work with couples and individuals stuck in painful relationship patterns, constant conflict, disconnection, or trust issues. Many come in exhausted, repeating the same cycles and unsure how to fix it. Together, we get underneath what’s really driving those patterns, help you communicate in ways that actually land, and create real change so you can feel more connected, secure, and understood, even if you need to attend individually.

Cindy believes humans are physical, mental, emotional, sexual and spiritual beings thus the goal of therapy is to obtain health in all areas of one's being. I believe a client takes the first step to healing as soon as the counseling appointment is made. It's a privilege to observe transformation in a client on the road to hope and healing by focusing on the strengths from within the client. It is exciting to watch a couple go from the brink of divorce to a marriage better than ever.

My ideal client is anyone who is suffering, hurting, desperate, and motivated for change. I have been practicing counseling since 2004 and have worked in pretty much every scenario possible from prescreening in the emergency room during the pandemic (that was fun), to my early days of group and family work in inpatient psychiatric settings. I started providing Telehealth services in the later part of 2020 and have found this platform to be meaningful and powerful for individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy. I believe in a wholistic approach to physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual healing.

Sexual Abuse Therapists
How do therapists treat sexual abuse?
A good therapist will be nonjudgmental and possibly demonstrate active listening, repeating back what the client says to show that they have understood. These skills allow people to feel comfortable discussing their traumatic experiences openly. Some important treatment goals are to restore a sense of safety and to rebuild confidence. In addition to working one-on-one with the patient, a therapist might bring in supportive family members to assist the client.
Do you have to talk extensively about sexual abuse in therapy?
Survivors frequently find it difficult to describe what happened to them out loud. They can even still be in a state of denial if the sexual abuse occurred recently. It is important for survivors to acknowledge that what happened isn’t their fault and to challenge and reappraise any unhealthy feelings or thoughts as they arise. Art therapy and play therapy are useful non-verbal means of communication for some survivors.
How long does treatment for sexual abuse take?
Recovery from sexual abuse can be a long and difficult process. Some survivors are able to move on naturally on their own, given time, while others require the guidance of a trained therapist. Therapy needs vary and can range from a few sessions to months or even years. Healing from sexual abuse takes time, and everyone’s journey will look a little different.
Can trauma symptoms caused by sexual abuse come back after treatment?
As occurs in many cases of trauma, survivors of sexual abuse may experience PTSD-like symptoms long after the abuse has ceased or after an initial round of treatment has occurred. In such a case, there is evidence that prolonged exposure therapy is a useful treatment for survivors, and may be more efficacious than supportive counseling alone. While triggers may continue to cause distress, the idea is that, with time and repeated exposure, their power will fade, allowing survivors to move on with their lives.
