Maybe you’ve tried to explain what you’re carrying and couldn’t find the words. Or maybe you know exactly what’s wrong and just need somewhere safe to say it out loud. Wherever you land, you’re welcome here. I became a therapist because I know firsthand what it means to move through life feeling unseen. My goal is simple: to be the consistent, grounding presence that helps you feel safe enough to do real work — and seen enough to believe it’s worth doing.

I have experience working with teenage and adult clients who want to grow spiritually and personally, even through symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Do you need a better way to cope with anxiety or depression? You may need help finding practical strategies & skills to help you not only get through your day, but improve your ability to navigate school or work, relational, and spiritual challenges. You may need a safe place to talk about your beliefs or doubts. Maybe life has changed, and you can't seem to adjust. Maybe it all has become too much, & self-worth, health, and things that were once so important have taken a hit. You would like to feel happy and hopeful again. Or at least have some tools so that you feel a sense of positive progress and growth.

Life can be a lot. Between work, school, pandemics, financial crisis... I could go on, and on. Some of us are also dealing with debilitating anxiety, depression, and health issues. Many people are seeing the effects in their relationships, their work, and their spiritual life. Now more than ever, it's important to have a sounding board. The old ways of navigating through life might need to be adjusted. You want things to be different, but you're not sure how. You're ready to change, you just need some guidance to find your way.

I love to help my clients acknowledge their emotions, understand and reframe intrusive thoughts, set healthy boundaries, and hold space for feelings of grief when they come. I have extensive experience with adults and college-aged clients in improving symptoms ranging from anxiety, depression, social anxiety, life skills, grief and loss, relationship issues, boundary setting, and self-esteem. I want to help each client determine their own counseling goals. I'm a firm believer in autonomy in counseling. Whether this is a client's first experience with counseling or not, my hope is for clients to leave our sessions more hopeful.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
