I work from an integrative, relational
psychodynamic
perspective with a multicultural, intersectional feminist lens focusing on issues of identity development, relational and racial trauma, sexual assault, immigration, and mood disorders.
Therapy helps in understanding yourself, your relationships with others, and new/changing/unexpected life experiences that may be difficult to process. Together, and at your pace, we can help understand these patterns, feelings, and lived experiences, as well as acknowledge what societal loadings may impact you and your experience of the world.

In all forms, relationships are a guiding part of our lives and directly impact how we live. My practice is guided by
psychodynamic
/psychoanalytic theory, and I believe therapist and client thinking together creates insight and deeper understanding, which allows you to learn about your inner world. As you come to know yourself, a positive space opens up to afford you an opportunity to grow, evolve, and flourish. As a psychoanalyst I have studied for many years including infant and young child observational studies, my clinical experience includes trauma, depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationships, and life-changing events.

I offer cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused CBT (TF-CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), play therapy,
psychodynamic
therapy, mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT), motivational interviewing (MI), grief counseling, narrative-exposure therapy, and short-term crisis counseling.
Look, we all can agree on one thing in this day and age: the struggle is real. In a world that is fast-paced and overworked, we often forget to process what is happening externally and how it is affecting us internally. And if we don't have the right tools to handle big stressors or major life events, it can be even more difficult to deal with what comes our way. Whatever your struggle is, I'm here to help.

I pull from various approaches influenced by
psychodynamic
and relational theories, CBT, trauma-informed care, and mindfulness.
I know finding the right therapist can be a daunting and overwhelming process. There are so many options out there, and it can be difficult knowing which therapist is best for you. Therapy should not be an intimating place. This should be a space where you feel comfortable and safe enough to be your truest, most authentic self. You do not have to go through this journey alone. I understand how excruciating and frustrating it can be to repeat the same painful patterns and feel like nothing will get better. Together, we will explore ways to start moving past the pain and towards a happier and healthier life.

I completed postgraduate training in
psychodynamic
psychotherapy at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy in NYC.
As a psychotherapist I work with adults (including young adults 18+) who are experiencing difficulties with relationships, anxiety, depression, work/school challenges, parenting issues, family conflicts, grief and loss, life transitions, or other problems that may get in the way of a more balanced, satisfying life. With each client, I seek to create an empathic, judgment-free space where you can explore your feelings, gain insight, and improve coping skills that can help to enhance your life and relationships. My approach is interpersonal and relational--working within a

Using Experiential
Psychodynamic
Therapy, an intensive and engaging form of treatment, we will develop a clear understanding of your goals, increase your emotional intelligence, and observe internal blocks from your true feelings.
Perhaps you're ready to challenge the belief that this is just the way things are. Deep down there has been a desire to look closer. You want to feel connected to your center, confident, and feel at home with your true feelings about things. I provide treatment to adults with struggles often described as: feeling not enough, patterns of challenging or unfulfilling relationships, trouble asserting themselves, perfectionism, difficulties related to past traumas, or having been raised by emotionally immature caregivers. Additionally, I have specialization and interest in working with women who have experienced abusive relationships.

Using a strength-based, person-centered perspective while integrating mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral strategies as well as
psychodynamic
and other insight-oriented therapies, I seek to help clients work towards awareness, increase insight and ultimately begin to experience positive change.
I believe that therapy is a place to explore who we are and how we want to move forward with our lives. It is a space to look at what is holding us back and impeding our own personal growth. My approach is to work together with individuals to unearth current and past dysfunctions that are no longer working for them and to help navigate a new way for clients to see themselves and the world around them. I help clients examine their patterns of thought, feelings and behaviors and explore the impact of their past and current relationships on their present life.

In my work, I use a blend of CBT, Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT), attachment theory,
psychodynamic
theory, Imago theory, and the Gottman method.
Are you suffering from the end of a relationship? A job? Do you feel like you are in crisis, or no longer feel like yourself? Maybe you’re realizing that your life as it is in this moment is not working for you. Perhaps you feel alone, feel lost, and at a loss for what to do. Congratulations on taking the first step to finding relief and taking control. Life is too short to surrender to bad relationships, hold grudges, let trauma control us, or to be anxious or angry all the time. You may feel stuck, but there is hope.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
