I welcome children with learning/behavioral challenges and their families for
parenting
and neurobiological interventions.
It is a great honor to witness people's return to their unique expression of wholeness. The essence of my work lies in meeting you with an attitude of heartful curiosity so that you may safely explore stressors and renegotiate traumas. I utilize integrative body-based modalities incorporating latest discoveries and research in mind-body psychology that do not require reliving intense emotions or detailing painful memories. My primary focus is working with women who have experienced narcissistic abuse, domestic violence,
parenting
with a trauma history and institutional abuse.
Recovering from trauma is the most inspiring and difficult things one can do in their lifetime. I am a believer that post traumatic growth is possible in all people. I utilize an eclectic approach pulling from a base of radical feminism utilizing approaches from DBT, somatic experiencing, and mindfulness and acceptance based approaches. I firmly believe that everyone has the tools within them to heal and grow and my primary job as therapist is to provide a safe non-judgmental setting for you to discover your healed self.

I also work with parents to identify ways in which their own attachment history and family of origin experiences may be influencing their current
parenting
strategies and family dynamics.
I work with adult individuals and children aged 2-18 and their families/caregivers. I focus on supporting clients to creatively turn their pain into coping skills, missed connections into secure relationships, and problematic behaviors into strengths and resiliency. I focus on practical, real-world strategies that build security and connection through a balance of nurture, engagement, structure, and challenge. These strategies are a resource that can then be utilized through different life experiences, stages, and adversity. I support children and caregivers alike to learn new ways of responding, guiding, and supporting one another.

I have worked with trauma, interpersonal and sexual violence, am trained in EMDR, and am very creative in helping you incorporate effective
parenting
and coping skills.
Often the first step towards making a change is taking a realistic look at where you've been, where you are now, and where you want to be. Although it can be painfully difficult at first, you can begin making changes, one day at a time, that will take you closer to living the life you desire. Using EMDR and talk therapy, we'll focus on healing the wounds of the past, finding joy in the present, and bringing clarity to your future. It's time for you let go of the things that hold you back and start to discover all the ways in which you were meant to shine. Hope and healing are at the heart of what I have to offer.

I work best with adults and teens around issues of spiritual integration, religious abuse, LGBTQ+ identity formation,
parent
-child relationships, and disordered emotions.
Sometimes, life can be difficult to navigate, and you just need someone with whom to process all that is going on inside of you. You may be struggling with your faith journey or with relating to your children, your partner, or your parents. You might be asking scary questions about your own identity, including gender or sexuality. You may have teens who need an adult outside of their network to provide a listening and nonjudgmental ear, or someone just to bring perspective. You might be failing to maintain focus on what matters in life and need some emotional support to live the life you always hoped you would live.

Stress can come into our lives at the most unexpected and inconvenient times. We may try to deny the effects of stress in our lives until it becomes overbearing. When this happens, we tend to have developed behaviors that become more damaging than they are helpful – these are maladaptive behaviors. It can be hard to pick up the pieces and begin rebuilding our lives. Our thoughts and own actions can get in our way. Sometimes we need help from someone in rebuild the basic building blocks of a satisfying life.

parenting
, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, multicultural, and men's issues.
Your life moves pretty fast - don't you think it's time to take a step back and evaluate it? Because we're constantly on the go we rarely give ourselves a chance to make sense of our experiences; instead we bear our life burdens and hope for the best. Life isn't easy, whether it's because of what we were born into, what people have done to us, and/or what we've to done ourselves. My goal is to help you learn about yourself, teach coping skills, and help you apply those skills to your life for true change. All I ask is that you come motivated and ready to work. You'll never regret making time to work on yourself to be a better you.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
