Welcome! I am so happy that you have taken the first step.Watching your child or teen struggle can be really hard, especially when it involves anxiety, sadness, strong emotions, behavior challenges, friendship issues, or stress at school or in life. You might feel unsure of what actually helps, worn down by the options, or frustrated that nothing you’ve tried seems to stick, and it is impacting your relationship. If you or a loved one is dealing with emotional, behavioral, academic, or social difficulties, support is available. I work with children, teens, young adults, and their families who are struggling with these challenges.

My practice is client-centered and universal. I believe in treating the entire person. I look at past experiences, trauma, current issues, and future hopes and goals. I specialize in treating children ages (5+), adolescents, young adults, and adults. Most of my experience is working with clients healing from trauma. I pull from a variety of therapeutic techniques to work with the individual. If one therapy is not working, let's try something else.

I believe a good foundation for growth is a non-judgmental environment that helps build a safer space for an individual. I hope to be able to foster a space that will encourage and empower individuals to take the lead in finding opportunities to learn more about themselves, their relationships, and their environment. I aspire to collaborate with individuals from across the life-span and their support systems to create and reach goals throughout the healing process.

Life can be good, filled with highs and lows. However, when those lows hit, having therapeutic techniques at your disposal can help manage the most seemingly unmanageable difficulties. During my doctoral Internship in pediatric and adult behavioral health at Irby Psychological Services, LLC, in Southaven, MS, I specialized in comprehensive psychological testing of neurodevelopmental disorders and intellectual disabilities, as well as related comorbidities, in addition to behavior-based individual and family therapy.

Accepting clients now. While I bring to our sessions my rigorous academic and clinical training, once you’re in my office, I think you'll find it’s essentially, at its core, a conversation. Even though I listen to things other people in your life might find uncomfortable, you’ll probably find that you spend more time laughing than crying in my office. Let me help you get to a place where: Resilience is enhanced. Relationships are rewarding and stable. Decisions are made consciously, with clarity and purpose. Life's work is energized, in harmony with personal values. Transitions are managed more smoothly, embraced as opportunities.

I work with parents and the other important adults in a child's life to reduce conflict and improve the functioning of children and teens. Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT) Therapists
Does parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT) work?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment that has been shown to be effective across domains, including for children with behavioral problems, those on the autism spectrum, and those who have experienced early childhood trauma. Further, studies have found that the skills developed through PCIT benefit not only the child in therapy but also siblings, as the parent internalizes lessons learned in sessions and is able to incorporate them into interactions with other family members.

How long does PCIT last?
The duration of treatment depends on the specific challenges clients face. Sessions are typically 60 to 90 minutes long, and treatment lasts, on average, between 12 and 20 sessions. Factors that influence treatment duration include how regularly a client attends treatment, how much progress is achieved between sessions, the particular skills that need development, and the extent to which the parent and therapist see improvement.

Can PCIT be done online?
PCIT is among the therapy types best suited for video sessions. Therapists are able to communicate with parents with essentially the same ease, and by observing the parent and child at home in their normal environment, the therapist may gain additional insight into their interactions, as the child will have their normal toys and may feel more comfortable and act more naturally than they would in a therapist’s room.

Does PCIT help parents?
In addition to the skills parents develop through the treatment, PCIT has also been shown to reduce frustration, stress, and depression in parents and promote confidence and a sense of calm when dealing with their children. The desired outcomes of PCIT include a reduction in defiant and aggressive behavior by children and an improvement in communicating their feelings productively, complying with parental instruction, and behaving according to parents’ rules. Growth in these areas can be a relief for parents.
