I am passionate about all forms of mental health service, but I have a special interest in
relationship
difficulties, grief, and symptoms of trauma.
Currently accepting new clients. I believe that people are resilient and that we all have the capacity to change our lives for the better if we are given opportunities to succeed. Many of us will suffer moments of defeat, moments of heartache, cultural moments of significance, and situations of joy that beg to be shared. As a therapist, I facilitate the success of others by creating a space for hope, empowerment, passion, and sorrows. I desire to help others to become their best selves.

I’ve had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, adults, military, veterans, and families as they navigate life's stressors, including anxiety, depression,
relationship
issues, self-esteem, stress, parenting, transitions, and finding work/life balance.
We all need someone who can provide an unbiased perspective, challenge our thinking, and help us navigate unchartered waters. Whether you're seeking change or a better understanding of yourself, your family, or your relationships, I would love to help. Let’s get together and talk about it. There's hope and strength in seeking counsel during these times.

We are all seeking in this life- seeking to understand ourselves with more depth, connect with others with more ease, and find space from pain with more health. I aim to
partner
with my clients in the seeking, and offer safety and support in the process. Most of my clients are children, adolescents, and adults struggling with disordered eating, self esteem, and anxiety. I also have a background in working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Additionally, I offer an understanding and safe space for those who are exploring their spirituality, or going through a deconstruction or faith transition process.

I believe the
relationship
between therapist and client is essential to the success of our work--it is important that you have the right fit.
As a psychotherapist I work with adults (including young adults 18+) who are experiencing difficulties with relationships, anxiety, depression, work/school challenges, parenting issues, family conflicts, grief and loss, life transitions, or other problems that may get in the way of a more balanced, satisfying life. With each client, I seek to create an empathic, judgment-free space where you can explore your feelings, gain insight, and improve coping skills that can help to enhance your life and relationships. My approach is interpersonal and relational--working within a psychodynamic framework toward goals we will set together.

Emotions are an important part of life, and help us to connect with others. Sometimes our experiences with intense emotions can take away from our ability to clearly communicate with each other or appreciate ourselves. Do you find it difficult to enjoy life in the moment? too focused on the past or worried about the future? Do you wish you could connect with your family or
partner
in a way that doesn't lead to conflict or slammed doors? Whether you are experiencing
relationship
conflicts, depression, anxiety, anger, feelings of low self esteem or sex related concerns, your feelings do not have to control your life.

I’d love to be that person for you.

I work with clients to create a therapeutic
relationship
that is a supportive, trusting, and non-judgmental environment to explore these issues and improve quality of life.
Please email me to be added to my waitlist (3-5 weeks). We all have inner narratives about ourselves, our worthiness, other people, and life in general. These narratives are created by our experiences, families, communities, our biological makeup, and mainstream societal messages. Many of us carry around harmful beliefs about ourselves and the world around us that hold us back and keep us locked in cycles of suffering. We can challenge and change these destructive narratives to improve our lives and relationships.

I have extensive clinical experience working with a wide range of diverse clients, including young adults, adults,
couples
, veterans and groups.
I use an eclectic approach with an emphasis on interpersonal relations focusing on what works best for clients. I am actively involved in the process of inviting clients to explore curiosities, moving away from negative beliefs and self -judgements towards a place of understanding, integration and acceptance. I believe engaging clients on their terms is critical to creating a comfortable environment to discuss any issues of concern. I engage clients to explore and understand how their past influences the present , as well as patterns of behaviors and functioning that may both interfere and support their current life situations.

I specialize in anxiety, trauma, grief, LGBT issues,
relationship
issues, adult children of personality disordered parents and women's issues across the lifespan, especially surrounding menopause.
We are living in incredibly trying times. We won't find the answers to this distress through the news or social media. We have to look beyond the constant influx of outside messages and search for meaning within ourselves. And, we can find the tools to do this in ways that speak to each of us individually. This ability to turn inward helps us make more freeing choices and gives us the wisdom to navigate the outside world.

I offer both individual and
couples counseling
to adults of all ages, also teaching mindfulness meditation when desired. In addition to ameliorating symptoms, decreasing emotional pain, and helping to solve difficult problems, therapy and meditation can facilitate significant personal growth and increased wellness. My approach is broadly humanistic, meaning we seek together in a safe and secure environment, mutual understanding of you as a whole person, honing your internal "voice" and tapping into your existing strengths. Once we identify who you really are and what is most important to you, the path to bringing your life into alignment becomes clearer.

I have over 20 years of behavioral health experience, assisting with court-related issues,
relationship
problems, life transitions, work-related burnout, men's issues, and racial & cultural trauma (s).
Life can be a challenge. Even with the most sincere attempt and best effort, everyone experience setbacks, loss, trauma, and at times, a reduced sense of hope. In the darkest moments, we need someone to offer genuine support, help us discover sustainable solutions, and guide us through challenges to the ultimate pivot. While I welcome and have experience with diverse populations, I am especially passionate about increasing access and reducing the stigma of behavioral health among men. You can expect professional high quality care, humor, and a compassionate yet challenging partnership to help you discover quality health & wellness.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
