Life is no simple highway. It can be confusing, overwhelming, and even scary at times. In an effort to avoid pain, fear, and suffering, we sometimes develop coping techniques that are ultimately roadblocks to fully living life. Do you feel lost, like you’re just going through the motions without a sense of direction? Whether you’re going through a major life transition, grieving a loss, have experienced a traumatic event, or are simply tired of the day-to-day struggle, I’m here to tell you there is light up ahead and you don’t have to make this journey on your own. I am Ramona - a mother of two and former hospice social worker.

I'm a pretty versatile therapist, and boy, do I like a challenge. I feel qualified with a range of presenting problems but I know my strengths. I have experience and interest in all kinds of anxiety disorders, gender dysphoria, trauma, polyamory/kink. I'm also keen on adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges that may make family dynamics hard. We'll figure out the big question: what's this about?

YOU are the greatest project that you could ever work on. With empathy being my greatest strength, I am able to strategically engage with clients by understanding more sensitively in imagining what it must have been like for them to go through an experience. Furthermore, I intentionally work to model self-awareness, freedom, honesty, care, trust, and autonomy, as these characteristics resonate deeply with me. I also naturally embody warmth, which encourages clients to feel safe and comfortable in opening up with sharing their lived experiences. I have been told that my optimism and positivity are inspirational.

While I welcome a variety of needs, including anxiety and depression. I am particularly focused on sex and sexuality, and trauma. It is my goal to provide a safe space for topics that many may find awkward and are unsure how to discuss and explore them in more depth. Whether those topics are related to sexual orientation, kink, polyamory, satisfaction, or sexual difficulty, I am sensitive and allied to those needs in a safe and ethical manner. Further, I actively continue educating myself on concepts to maintain competency in meeting clinical needs in these topics. I am also happy to work with those struggling with their identity.

Le’Keisha is eclectic and uses a blend of Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Reality Based, and Psycho-education. A holistic approach is utilized by exploring with and educating clients about how mind and body are interconnected. Le’Keisha believes that when a person has hope and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, people are free to experience change. Exploring, acknowledging, and coping with past traumas of childhood tragedies are profound when attempting to treat mental health and substance use disorders.

I believe that everyone wants to feel understood, to be heard, and to harness the skills that will allow them to tap into their inner strength and ability to achieve. However, the challenges that we face during certain times of our lives make it difficult to function at the height of our ability. Whether it is adjustment issues, depression and anxiety, grief, or trauma, therapy represents a safe and non-judgmental place to work through life's challenges and to rediscover a healthier you.

Hello! With over 16 years experience in mental health, I have a conviction about the human capacity to grow, develop, and adapt throughout life. I appreciate that each person brings to therapy a unique self: the combination of one's personal characteristics, early family relationships, and life experiences. Many times, our most significant growth occurs as a result of learning to cope with challenges that occur in life and the stress that often accompanies change.

Currently accepting new clients. I believe that people are resilient and that we all have the capacity to change our lives for the better if we are given opportunities to succeed. Many of us will suffer moments of defeat, moments of heartache, cultural moments of significance, and situations of joy that beg to be shared. As a therapist, I facilitate the success of others by creating a space for hope, empowerment, passion, and sorrows. I desire to help others to become their best selves.

How can I find a therapist in Richmond?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
