I have deep interest and ample experience in providing therapy to people of all backgrounds struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD , emotional-behavioral, parenting, life transitions, interpersonal relationships, multicultural, and men's issues.
Your life moves pretty fast - don't you think it's time to take a step back and evaluate it? Because we're constantly on the go we rarely give ourselves a chance to make sense of our experiences; instead we bear our life burdens and hope for the best. Life isn't easy, whether it's because of what we were born into, what people have done to us, and/or what we've to done ourselves. My goal is to help you learn about yourself, teach coping skills, and help you apply those skills to your life for true change. All I ask is that you come motivated and ready to work. You'll never regret making time to work on yourself to be a better you.

I have seen a need in our community for improvement in the diagnosis and treatment for individuals with ADD / ADHD . As a physician, I have found myself discouraged with the testing and treatment protocol for individuals with ADD / ADHD . In my office, we use FDA approved computer technology to develop an accurate diagnosis.

I have over 18 years of experience working with children and adolescents experiencing a wide range of concerns including autism, behavioral difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and ODD.
Each phase of development brings specific challenges for children and adolescents. Mental health conditions, developmental delays, trauma, as well as seemingly routine events, such as changing schools, can make these developmental milestones much more difficult to navigate for both children and their families. Behaviors can escalate, relationships suffer, and grades drop. Often times children and adolescents are resistant to traditional talk therapy. Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) combines traditional therapy techniques and an interactive partnership between clients and their horse partner.

My clinical specialties include ADHD , relational conflict, identity work, and substance misuse.
Are your relationships creating emotional strain on your day to day life? Is communicating, setting personal boundaries, and managing your mood an ongoing difficulty? Perhaps your headspace and sense of identity has been clouded by doubt, self-criticism, and regret, or maybe COVID has left you feeling disconnected with who you are and where you’re going. I can support you through these challenges and more as you grow, reflect, and become more empowered to live the life you want. In my counseling space, clients name their goals and what progress looks like, and they process their past and how it impacts them in the present.

I am especially interested in using my skills for the treatment of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and ADHD .
I have spent much of my life driving the success of mental health initiatives from the systems and counseling level. This involved tackling issues through policy development and direct counseling initiatives. As a psychotherapist, I bring my wealth of experience to the outpatient setting, facilitating others to become their best selves through kindness and strategic supports. I practice from the belief that we can all live meaningful, fulfilling lives if we have genuine, knowledgeable supports cheering us forward.

As a neuropsychologist, I see children, adolescents, and adults for ADHD and learning disability evaluations.
In my professional work (testing and therapy), I believe in meeting individuals where they are at in their lives. I believe most individuals seek testing or therapy when they have reached a point where they feel something needs to change (for therapy patients) or they want an answer (for testing patients). I also believe some individuals are not as certain and seek professional assistance for guidance and direction. I am happy to work with patients wherever they are at in their "stage of change." Please watch my introductory video on my website at www.westendneuropsychology.com.

I have more than 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults who are seeking help with mental health concerns related to depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, trauma, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as life transitions and other obstacles.
Wellness has been defined as a way of life oriented toward optimal health and well-being in which body, mind, and spirit are integrated to live more fully within the human and natural community. Ideally, it is the optimum state of health and well-being that each individual is capable of achieving. When working together in counseling, I perceive one’s thoughts are related to their feelings and reactions to events, not the events themselves. Counseling sessions are individualized to meet the unique needs of each client.

Some of my areas of clinical focus include: anxiety, mood instability, addiction, ADHD , marital conflict, behavioral problems, academic underachievement,.
Sometimes life can feel overwhelming and frustrating. Stress in our lives can come from many different sources: communication difficulties, parenting children, unrealistic expectations at work, academic struggles. These challenges can become confusing and depressing if left in isolation. By addressing these issues in a safe, trusting counseling environment many of these stressors can be reduced.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
