Life can feel overwhelming when you're trying to manage anxiety, relationship stress, family conflict, or major life transitions on your own. Many people come to therapy feeling unheard, stuck, or unsure how to move forward. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you can slow down, process what you're experiencing, and begin making meaningful changes. I am especially passionate about empowering individuals who feel unseen or like they don’t have a voice. I work collaboratively with you to better understand your experiences, strengthen coping skills, and build a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.

Let’s be real. If you’re overgiving, overthinking, or carrying more than your share in relationships, you’re not “too much.” You’re exhausted. Many of my clients are high-functioning on paper but emotionally drained underneath. They’re the reliable one, the strong one, and they’re tired of repeating the same patterns. I help adults stuck in people-pleasing, anxiety spirals, resentment, or relationship loops build boundaries, emotional regulation, and self-trust. We’ll identify triggers, map patterns, and practice communication skills you can use right away. This isn’t just venting. We set clear goals and focus on real-life change.

My ideal client is someone who is striving to better understand themselves while navigating the challenges of everyday life. That includes managing stress, healing from emotional pain, building healthier relationships, or learning effective coping strategies. They may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of their next steps, yet they carry a deep desire for growth, stability, and peace. At their core, they want to feel supported, heard, and empowered to make meaningful changes. They seek a therapeutic space where they can safely explore their thoughts and emotions without judgment, and where their goals are respected and nurtured.

You’re holding a lot—and from the outside, it may not look like it. You’re functioning, showing up, taking care of what needs to get done, but internally, things feel heavy, overwhelming, or hard to sort through. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, a major life transition, or the emotional shifts that come with postpartum or motherhood, therapy can be a space to slow down and make sense of what you’re carrying. My approach is grounded, supportive, and collaborative. I work with clients to better understand their patterns, manage anxiety, and reconnect with themselves in a way that feels more steady and sustainable.

I am a licensed professional counselor and registered play therapist working in my own practice with children, teens, and adults. While the work we do is serious, I provide a comfortable environment filled with light, humor, and genuine positive regard. I offer a lively and interactive experience regardless of your needs. I am trained in several models, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), play therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS); however, I believe a solid therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and change.

It’s been a source of deep personal satisfaction for me to be able to assist people who are in distress find ways to resolve the life struggles and challenges they are having by creating a safe space where whatever needs to be discussed can be discussed and whatever needs to be fixed can be fixed - without judgment, shame or blame – an opportunity many people often don’t have; a therapeutic process that inevitably relieves stress, renews hope, and facilitates helpful discoveries, new perspectives, and more effective behaviors, bringing better results, relief from suffering, and healing, and more joy and satisfaction in life.

Have you ever thought – what distinguishes healthy relationships that are able to thrive from unhealthy ones that tend to be full of stress? Is it self-will? Determination? As a couples and family therapist, I believe the one distinguishing factor is "attachment". Attachment is the ability to connect with others. Depending on our ability (or inability) to attach interpersonally, determines the overall satisfaction we experience within our intimate relationships. Also, having been a victim of racism, I opened this practice as a place that people of color can heal from the impact of both blatant and systemic oppression.

Thank you visiting my profile! I'm a Clinical Psychologist with expertise in treating eating disorders, body dysmorphia, fertility and pregnancy related issues, pregnancy loss, ADHD, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, mood disorders, and family/relationship stressors. I also work with many types of other diagnoses and life circumstances or stressors. My approach is warm, informal, and full of humor whenever it belongs. I believe in treating both current symptoms/struggles and the roots or origins of the current concerns, as treatment is often most successful when both are addressed and understood.

You want a better version of yourself, your relationships and your life. Sometimes it's easier to think than feel–maybe even overthink–about how to live, be, and relate to others well, but you may have had some experiences that make this feel almost impossible. You want more authenticity in relationships with others, yourself, and even in your sex life. We will fit well together if you thrive on exploration, encouragement, challenging questions, and occasional redirection toward larger goals. We will be talking about relationships, intimacy, families of origin, career, or general stress of life that leads to feelings of discomfort.

So many of us present a high-functioning face to the world, but our inner lives tell a different story. Depression, anxiety, and other issues are natural byproducts of the stressful lives we lead. I work with adults, teens (16 and older), couples, and families, ranging from adolescents facing developmental struggles to stay-at-home parents and Beltway professionals. As a native Northern Virginian, I can relate to the challenges of living in this frenetic environment. My previous military and consulting experience give me an understanding of issues that busy professionals deal with like self-care and work-life balance.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
