Online scheduling! Over 20 years experience. Late night appointments available until 10pm. I enjoy working with couples that are passionate about each other and want real understanding with each other and better communication. I have counseled hundreds of couples using a variety of methods but primarily using the research based Gottman Method Couples Therapy (GMCT). Generally couples need at least 7 sessions to really understand their unique underlying issues in the context of GMCT and to develop ways to move forward. Trauma focused approaches to betrayal recovery and learning new ways to relate to one another and remake your life.

Are you experiencing lies, abuse, and disrespect in your home or family or even at work? The early promises of life might now seem illusory, and you feel trapped under a mountain of shame, regret, anger, self-recrimination, and confusion. You're paralyzed by not knowing what to do, or perhaps, how to do it. You imagine your desired freedom or empowerment will negatively affect those you love. It's as if you are a fading shadow of who you once thought yourself to be and fear that someday, your shadow will be blotted out entirely. Your children, relatives, friends, neighbors, and co-workers have no idea of your desperation.

I'm the therapist to contact when you need more than traditional "talk therapy" and want real and meaningful change or when you want to "find your Self." I provide virtual adult therapy for depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, work stress, and health issues. We'd be a good fit for therapy if you're ready to commit to meeting regularly and open to examining your concerns (and life) in new ways. I believe most people have what they need to overcome their issues, but they may need a shift in perspective or support through change.

I work with adults and couples carrying relationship strain, chronic stress, grief, identity questions, or the emotional impact of illness, pain, infertility, or medical trauma. Perhaps you are the one who keeps functioning, caring for others, or holding everything together while feeling increasingly disconnected from yourself. As a couple, you may be caught in cycles of pursuit, withdrawal, caregiving, or silence. I work with adults and couples, including men, LGBTQIA+ clients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, who want to understand these patterns and feel more connected, grounded, and fully themselves.

I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), and other integrative methods.
You’re the person others rely on. At work, at home, and in the many roles you carry, you’re used to being capable, responsible, and there when people need you. From the outside, you may seem to be doing just fine. But privately, you may be feeling more anxious, overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or disconnected from yourself than you’d like. Therapy can give you a place to step out of those roles for a while, to slow down, and pay attention to what you need.

I also use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT), Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I help people recover from PTSD and other trauma-related challenges. Starting therapy can feel like a big step—especially for those impacted by difficult life experiences. I aim to make that step easier by offering a supportive, collaborative, and accepting relationship that empowers you to make meaningful changes. While my primary interest lies in trauma recovery, I also work with related concerns such as moral injury, anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns. Moral injury refers to profound distress and impaired functioning resulting from experiences that violate deeply held moral beliefs.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
