It’s 4:00 AM, and everyone in the house is asleep but you. Your heart is pounding, your thoughts are racing, and all you want to do is break down and cry. But you can’t; you have to hold it together. No one can know what you’re going through. Everyone thinks you have it all under control and is counting on you. The thought of letting them down is too much to bear. So you plaster on a smile, put one foot in front of the other, and slog through another day. But it’s getting harder and harder to pretend. Secretly you wonder how long you can go on until it falls apart. The sadness is overwhelming, and it's draining the life out of you.

I work with clients seeking ways to manage life transitions, stress, anxiety, loss/ grief, post traumatic stress.
Do you long to live from your heart and soul? Do you worry or fret over thoughts or behavior patterns while trying to be true to what matters? How do you balance the ordinary and not-so-ordinary stresses, the visible and invisible losses? Do issues with relationships, boundaries, identity, developmental transitions, illness, anxiety/fear/trauma or unresolved emotions impact your life or beg for clarification? If you’re struggling to keep your life together in the ever-changing uncertainty of today’s world or if you simply have had a bump in the road, what if therapy could help create changes that make a difference.

Everyone has the capacity to change and heal. Even though life is overwhelming, we can overcome our struggles when we work together. As a helping professional, I build relationships, which amplify the strengths clients already possess. I foster growth by providing a safe environment and wholehearted support. I prioritize genuine connection and belongingness with each person I work with. I can help you recognize and build on your existing resilience and inner resources. Bearing witness to your vulnerability as you face your feelings and move through the healing process is something I deeply value.

Grief and loss can feel unbearable.
Tapping into an internal sense of hope and faith in a better tomorrow, you can foster your own personal growth on a pathway to peace and emotional wellness. Focusing on your strengths through the lens of positive psychology, I utilize elements of CBT, DBT, solution-focused and person-centered therapy. EFT “tapping” techniques may also be implemented.

I also specialize helping people navigate grief and loss, including losses that feel complicated, ongoing, or difficult to name.
My approach is relational and psychodynamic, offering a steady, engaged presence where you don’t have to get it "right". We stay with what's happening in your experience, and when helpful, use creative or experiential approaches to explore what's difficult to name. We won’t be trying to fix things quickly or get you to think differently.

In our work together, you'll gain support as we navigate your grief and loss, life & relationship transitions, and the ongoing human work of self-development and meaning-making, using trauma-informed & holistic tools that empower your own unique vision of transformation and healing.
With more than a decade of experience in both private practice and community mental health, I’ve been both witness and student to the many ways life asks us to change—often without a clear view of the road ahead. In our work together, therapy becomes a map, a torch, a compass, and a place to gather sustenance for the journey ahead.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
