Areas of interest include: parenting in the adolescent years, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship struggles, and coping skills.
Sometimes, we all need extra support to process our life situations. I'm here to create a safe place for you to share your authentic and struggling self. We'll work together to bring you to a place of more peace and connection -- both to yourself and with others. I'll meet you wherever you're at in your journey. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and have a particular interest in families with adolescents. The adolescent period has unique struggles that can lead to disconnection and discord if it's misunderstood. I would love to help make the teen years in your family more positive and connected.

As parents, we all want our children to be happy well adjusted individuals who are taking steps toward reaching their full potential. So it goes without saying that one of the most difficult things to do is to watch our children struggle in school and feel powerless in knowing how to help them. If your child is performing below grade level or exhibiting behavioral problems at home and school, these constant struggles may be evoking feelings of intense sadness, anxiety, and frustration in both you and your child and negatively impacting other areas of both your lives.

When individuals, couples, or families reach out to get help in order to face life's challenges, or to find meaning in their lives--I know that the healing journey has begun. I respect and admire the courage that it takes to make that first call and to admit to another human being that one is hurting and needs help. Or, maybe, to admit that one just needs to get another perspective on a difficult problem. As a therapist, I am committed to all who embark on the therapeutic journey of healing.

I believe in the client's ability to heal him or herself with the support of a person that is competent to counsel. A person's personal strength is often a reflection of one's journey in life and spiritual beliefs. An integration of one's theology cannot be underestimated in this journey called life. With more than 25 years of professional counseling experience, training and education at the doctorate level, I welcome a partnership with clients who are serious about growing personally, professionally and spiritually: mind, body and spirit.

Emotional wellness is an essential ingredient to living a balanced life. The everyday demands of life can be emotionally overwhelming and stressful at times, especially as we balance the demands of family life, being a caregiver, work, school, or coping with the loss of a job, loved one, or relationship. Sometimes these demands are further complicated by negative circumstances and obstacles that we might experience in life. The very essence of life is the willingness to live it; and the question is determining how you choose to live life. You might be nervous and even unsure about therapy. Rest assured that you're not alone.

Teen Therapists
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence.
