Therapy can be a great opportunity for hope, healing, and change to take place in your life. Whether it's a stressful set of life circumstances or an area in your life that you're struggling with, I look forward to working together with you to help you find what you are looking for. My diverse professional background has given me the privelege of working with a wide range of clients, such as those experiencing life changes/transitions, anxiety, stress, depression, and addiction. I seem to work mainly with male adolescents, adults and their families. Evaluation and referral services for mental health or addiction.

I am a mental health therapist who helps people live more fulfilling lives. I help the people I serve to restore the things in life that are not going the way they were hoping or expecting. My guiding principles in therapy are respect, authenticity, and optimism. These beliefs create a compassionate and hopeful space for growth, even for those hesitant about therapy. My form of therapy helps people to transform a chaotic life into one that is serene and enjoyable.

When grappling with life's relentless challenges, like grief, loss, trauma, depression, and anxiety, we can feel trapped in a seemingly unchangeable reality. In these moments, Viktor Frankl's poignant words ring true: "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." As your therapist, I am committed to walking alongside you and igniting this inherent transformative power within you. Together, we'll journey through these difficult times, building resilience and strength, and carving out fresh perspectives to light your way forward.

All of us are on a journey. I see the role of a counselor as someone who walks with you on yours. My counseling style blends cognitive behavioral techniques with existential humanism, which allows for the implementation of evidence-based interventions without neglecting the innate humanity of every individual. My guiding principle as a counselor is to meet clients where they are and help them grow into the best version of themselves.

I specialize in the relationships we have with ourselves, partners, children, and families. Whether a child or adult, our behaviors can always be made sense of when seen as a bid for connection, security, co-regulation, or validation. Where responses feel disruptive, defiant, shut down, withdrawn, critical, or overwhelming, they are a protest against disconnection or change, indications of a missed need, or a signal that whatever is happening is outside of a capacity to cope at that moment. I make space for everyone’s resourceful, brilliant, and sometimes limiting patterns, emotions, needs, protectors, and adaptations.

My goal is to help children, adolescents, and adults, to learn to navigate through difficult circumstances, instill hope and motivate them to go after their life goals. Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
