I enjoy working from an integrative approach, meaning I believe there is no one therapeutic modality that suits every client. However, underlying most of my approaches is an attachment perspective. Sadly, far too many of our relationships fall short of giving us a sense of being loved and belonging. We end up living too much of our lives caught in our own or other's perfectionism, passivity, anger, fear, judgment, shame, withdrawal, disinterest, betrayal, abuse, or worse. The harder we try to rid our relationships of these problems, the more unloved and alone we feel.

I also offer supervision for LPC licensure (Board Approved).
I am a strong proponent of personal choice, power and responsibility. At times we may believe negative or false messages that we have received from others. I work with each client to move toward a more positive and realistic reflection of their Self and towards Self acceptance. Recognizing one's own power is highly effective in treating anxiety & depression.

Thoughts keep spinning in your mind like an idling engine. Each time it slows down, something gives it another push and it keeps going around. You imagine familiar scenarios, images, and disasters over and over again. You're sure something bad is going to happen. It’s not just stress from school, work or the responsibilities at home. The worry and fear get so bad sometimes that they might boil over into panic. Maybe you have become avoidant of the people or places that trigger these feelings, but then in the back of your mind you hear it whispering. You know deep down that you can't go on like this. And yet, what else can you do?

I am a firm believer that everyone, at some point in life, can benefit from therapy. I operate from a person-centered, psychodynamic perspective, believing that clients are the experts on their own situation and what they would like to see change. Sometimes a safe, non-judgmental space helps us untangle our thoughts and make more sense of our circumstances and options. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an approach I often utilize, as well as a heavy focus on coping skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to help manage difficult emotions and associated physical sensations.

Trauma comes in many shapes and forms. It tells us lies about ourselves and the world that we tend to believe and internalize. My passion lies in helping unearth these lies and replace them with truths, so that we can live healthy, joyful and meaningful lives in community with others. I believe that YOU are the expert on your life and that YOU already have the answers for growth and healing within yourself. My role is to be a guide, resource and supportive companion as I walk beside you on your journey.
