I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in mood disorders, anxiety, marital/relationship challenges, trauma, grief, and stress management. I am familiar with working with a broad population to include individuals, families, and couples that are facing challenges navigating mental health symptoms, adjusting to transitions, developing healthy coping techniques, and managing day-to day stress. As a person centered and trauma focused therapist, I enjoy helping others who are in need of peace, recovery, and healing. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults struggling with eating disorders, body image, depression, grief, anxiety, mood disorders, and other co-occurring issues in multiple levels of care through a trauma lens. I have a background as a school social worker, medical social worker in which I bring tremendous experience in working with complex family situations, multidisciplinary teams, and through a lens of growth and change towards recovery and strength.

I have had the pleasure of serving as an honorary dance instructor to children, adolescents, adults, and families in various community behavioral health settings. One of my passions is supporting clients with rediscovering their strengths, embracing their humanness, and finding their balance.

I have extensive clinical experience in providing psychological services to adults, couples and families as well as members of the Public Safety, Correctional and Armed Forces Communities. Together we journey on a path to identify and target thoughts, feelings and behaviors which are problematic to psychological growth. She combines expertise and evidence-based approaches to care with an unflagging commitment to compassion and kindness in order to treat a variety of psychiatric disorders with particular proficiency in mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, substance use disorders, and eating disorders. Alexis utilizes psychotherapy, creates treatment plans, prescribes clinically-supported medications, and provides diagnostic clarity and education.

Many times, we ask ourselves, “why did this happen” or “why do I feel this way”? When we ask ourselves “why”, we tend to reinforce shame. Think about it, “why” indicates there is just one answer.

I have worked in the Fredericksburg/Stafford community for the past 24 years. I am currently taking referrals for psychological testing, custody evaluations and parental capacity evaluations. For psychological evaluations, I test age 8+. We can do evaluations for school accommodations, autism testing (ages 8-22), ADD testing, Intellectual disability, and other mental health evaluations.
