I have worked with clients ranging in age from infants to older adults .
Welcome! I am grateful you stopped by and are considering my services during a vulnerable time in your life. I believe that we are shaped by each experience we have, the systems we interact with, and the relationships we engage in. Every individual is unique in their identities (race, gender, sexual orientation, Roles, culture, religion, etc.). Those identities are key factors in the individual’s view of the world and interaction within it. I am also a gender affirming therapist, and here to help anyone on their journey.

One of my favorite quotes is, “life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain.” My focus in therapy is teaching individuals how to dance in the rain. I have had the pleasure of serving as an honorary dance instructor to children, adolescents, adults , and families in various community behavioral health settings. One of my passions is supporting clients with rediscovering their strengths, embracing their humanness, and finding their balance.

I provide evidence-based therapies to children, adolescents and adults facing concerns such as: anxiety, mood disorders, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, learning disorders, conduct disorders, schizophrenia, and other conditions that may require clinical attention.
TELEHEALTH AVAILABLE As individuals we face many situations in life that can affect us in different ways. There are times when these situations can become more difficult than others and can affect our relationships, our performance at work or school, or even in our daily activities. At this point we face a challenge to start a learning process, strengthen our coping skills and overcome these obstacles in life. Please know that you don’t have to go through this process alone. In therapy, we can work collaboratively to identify your challenges, define your goals more clearly and create a plan according to your own needs.

I work with adolescents and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and life transitions.
For many of us therapy is not the first step we take when we desire change. We change our habits, lean on our support system, or continue the mantra: "I can handle this on my own". Therapy is so much more than fixing what you feel is wrong in your life, or returning to "who you were" in the past. It's about being honest and expressive about your feelings, being open to reflective conversations, and learning new ideas and skills that require both patience and growth. I want my clients to see therapy as a resource to help them on their wellness journey of becoming who they want to be.

I have worked with children, youth, and adults .
We all have challenges in varying forms, some we can fix, others we can manage, and yet others we need some help to either fix or manage. I want to come alongside you with a spirit of collaboration to support you in fixing or managing whatever you are dealing with. I will create a safe space, a listening ear, and therapeutic feedback using evidence-based practices. I am going to be honest with you, that I am not here to fix you, but to support you in fixing or managing what you are challenged with. My style is laid back and meeting you where you are but expect to do work. I am genuine, open, compassionate, upbeat, and direct.

My goal is to provide a warm and accepting environment for individuals to explore feelings and life experiences that may allow for personal reflection and growth. We all may experience a feeling of being "stuck" at some point in our lives and may be unsure of how to move forward. I believe the path forward is discovered through personal reflection and self-exploration. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults utilizing a strength based approach. I work with individuals that may be experiencing mood disorder/depression, anxiety, adjustment to life changes, grief/loss, and a variety of other presenting issues.

While life events and transitions can be overwhelming and isolating, you never have to be alone. Through the therapeutic process, I will empathetically work with you to understand your goals and help guide you to wellness. I love working with ages spanning from late teens to older adults during life transitions. I feel as though we can all have a “harsh inner critic”; this critic is difficult to silence or challenge. Many times, we ask ourselves, “why did this happen” or “why do I feel this way”? When we ask ourselves “why”, we tend to reinforce shame. Think about it, “why” indicates there is just one answer.

Working with adolescents and adults , I take an integrative, person-centered approach.
I am grateful for the opportunity to accompany individuals on their journey and hold a space of support, safety, and healing. I believe that therapy, like life, is about pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and embracing growth. I value the power of connection with others, the willingness to be vulnerable, and exploration into our thoughts and feelings to become aware of our authentic selves. I enjoy working with individuals who are motivated, open-minded, and willing to try new experiences to support them on this path.

How can I find a therapist in Fredericksburg?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
