Issues I commonly encounter for children/adolescents include: relational challenges with parents, siblings, peers, issues involving school, and navigating transitional phases between developmental stages and educational progression; for young adults/adults: relational challenges with
family
, friends, coworkers, and the search for personal meaning.
I believe that everyone can benefit from psychotherapy. Utilizing this process can help you to identify, develop, and implement behavioral, emotional, and cognitive change that can allow you to feel more centered and self-confident, and can provide an increased sense of empowerment to address future challenges. I view seeking help through psychotherapy as a sign of strength rather than of weakness. Taking this step often makes one feel anxious, but my experience is that once taken, people usually feel a sense of relief, combined with an increase in hopefulness. In a way, seeking help is the first step on the path to healing.

, we have reached next level tough.
You did it! One of the hardest and bravest launches you will ever make is the journey toward self-care, well-being, and healing. Well done...and welcome. I show up with my clients and together we dig deep to identify barriers that keep us from feeling whole and strong. Holding space in a non judgmental way allows for safety and guidance while new perspectives emerge. It’s not easy but it’s worth it because you’re worth it.

Sarah believes that therapy is a collaborative process between the therapist, the client and their
family
, that allows children and adolescents to be able to meet their full potential. She believes that each individual is unique and the therapeutic process can be tailored to meet their needs. Children and adolescents are able to develop tools and skills to help them process and address the challenges the face through the therapeutic process. Children and adolescents benefit from a person to explore their emotions, process transitions, and develop self-esteem and confidence. Therapy can help build lifelong coping skills and tools.

My work is focused on sex and gender issues (including transgender issues), sexual orientation, kink/BDSM, and interpersonal relationships (including couples, polyamory,
family
dyads).
Congratulations on making it this far; searching for a therapist can be an overwhelming process, and the first step is often the hardest! Many individuals struggle with depression, anxiety, struggles with sex, or simply the desire to understand themselves more thoroughly. Whether to improve mood and functioning, improve relationships, or work on issues with sex/sexuality, therapy can be reparative, strengthening, and play a role in maximizing enjoyment of life! I work from an affirming and social justice approach with people who identify as LGBTQIA and people of color, and I am kink- and non-monogamy informed and affirming.

I want to welcome and congratulate you on your first step in seeking care for yourself or your
family
and I look for to working with you in the future.
All great changes are preceded by chaos. - Deepak Chopra....... In such uncertain times, it is common to feel confused, disorganized and uncertain about the future. Think back to a time in your life when change was inevitable, though difficult what was the silver lining? What did you learn? How did you grow? and How can you compare this to your current disposition? While we face so much adversity and ambiguity, it is ok to feel out of control. As a Resident in Counseling, I am dedicated to helping individuals and families create the new norm through the use of cognitive behavioral techniques and solutions.

When working with children, adolescents, & families, I ensure that families have the support they need to heal. My passion for supporting children and adolescents is reflected in my decisions to work with young clients who struggle with the range of concerns described, as well as those who have suffered from severe abuse, neglect and trauma, approaching each child with a warm and gentle manner. I hold a strong belief in the power of collaborating with parents and/or
family
members to establish ways to help children adapt in multiple settings (i.e. home & school), and help you know how to best support the unique needs of your child.

I work with individuals, couples, families, older teens, and adults and have experience helping clients manage depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, adjustment to life circumstances, as well as interpersonal and
family
issues.
I approach my clients from a relational perspective. I value attachment and strength-based modalities in developing a genuine relationship with each client so that healing and lasting change can take place. Through this relational approach, clients have the opportunity to gain perspective on their experienced difficulties and expand their insight into the root causes of these difficulties. I also strongly believe in bringing a holistic perspective to understand and support my clients’ growth. I feel that all clients need a different clinical approach to best meet their unique needs.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
