I view therapy as a collaboration between myself and the client. I rely on my client's knowledge about themselves and their identified strengths, in combination with my knowledge and application of different treatment models, assisting the client in formulating goals and making healthy changes in their life. I understand the importance of connecting easily and genuinely with a client, helping them to feel comfortable in the therapeutic process and successful in treatment.

Established over 10 years ago, we originally opened as Prince William Family Counseling and provided the community with trustworthy therapy services in a safe, welcoming environment. In 2015 the agency was purchased and took on new ownership and we became Woodbridge Therapy Group. With the recent change in ownership, we have expanded our number of providers, added more services, and renewed our investment in the community.

You might be the person everyone assumes has it together while you're privately battling anxiety, overthinking, ADHD, or constant self-doubt. Maybe you're exhausted from trying to keep up at work or school, second-guessing every decision, procrastinating even when you care, or feeling like your brain never slows down. If you're tired of feeling stuck in your own head, you're not alone.

If you have ever felt like therapy should feel less like a clinical exam and more like a meaningful conversation, you are in the right place.my goal is to provide a space where you can kick off your shoes (metaphorically or literally), take a deep breath, and finally feel heard. In my practice, I prioritize a relaxed session environment. I believe healing, exploring and vulnerability can only happen when you feel safe and comfortable. We aren’t here to check boxes or follow a rigid, cold protocol. We are here to explore the complexities of your life in a setting that feels grounded and authentic, just like Wilson is (pictured below)

Hi there, I'm happy that you are here! I know reaching out takes courage and I'm honored to walk alongside you. A bit about my practice is that I support individuals navigating stress, processing trauma, exploring life transitions, navigating chronic health concerns, and everything in between. I offer a grounded, collaborative space that honors the connection between mind and body and welcomes all parts of you with curiosity and compassion. Together, we slow down, tune inward, and begin reconnecting with the parts of you that are ready to be explored.

Many of my patients have been in therapy before, where they used skills and strategies to better manage their lives, but have found that this was not deep enough to make lasting changes. So, I don’t give advice or come with a pre-arranged agenda. Instead, we focus on your concerns and what you have to say while gradually developing a strong therapeutic relationship which is the most important factor in therapy. My role is first and foremost to listen attentively and without judgment so you have space to think, feel, and talk.

Psychoanalytic Therapists
Does psychoanalytic therapy work?
Psychoanalytic therapy derives from the work of Sigmund Freud. In this type of therapy, discovering buried thoughts and emotions from the unconscious will help a person work through their difficulties and negative behaviors. Research shows that psychoanalytic therapy can be highly effective, with patients reporting improvement in mood, quality of life, and overall well-being.

How long are people typically in psychoanalytic therapy?
Traditional psychoanalysis is in-depth and is conducted in five sessions every week. Today, modern psychoanalytic therapy is less intense and normally incorporates as few as one or two sessions a week. In some cases, positive change can occur quickly. However, if the condition, difficulty, or behavior is deep-seated, improvement may require many months or years of therapy.

Is psychoanalytic therapy suitable for young people?
Children and adolescents can benefit from this type of therapy. Many kids and teens are often unable to form and communicate their thoughts and emotions. Psychoanalytic therapy uses specific techniques such as dream analysis, symbolism, and free association or word association; all of which can be useful tools for less-communicative young people. Through this therapy, a patient will hopefully make connections between what they feel inside and how the world works outside.

Can psychoanalytic therapy be done online?
Modern-day psychoanalytic therapy is very different from traditional psychoanalysis. While an individual can sit face-to-face with the psychoanalyst for multiple sessions a week, they do not have to. Today, psychoanalytic therapy can be effectively conducted online or by phone. The key is that the individual confronts what is repressed and avoided, and this can be done whether in person or over online video.
