I have a healthy respect for the difficulties and complexities of life and will provide a non-judgemental environment for individuals or couples to explore solutions to the problems they face. The most common issues I work with are depression, anxiety, trauma and relationship problems. I like to look at what is working in a person's life and to promote wellness, as opposed to focusing on pathology or sickness. I find that once an individual focuses on specific goals, it does not take a long time to make significant movement in a positive direction.
I particularly enjoy working with couples to help them to work towards more peaceful, satisfying and intimate relationships. I pull from a number of different approaches, such as the Gottman approach, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, positive psychology and mindfulness; and tailor my approach to the individual or couple at hand.
I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been working in the mental health field for 35 years in both public and private settings. My training involves the study of not only the individual, but also the systems within which the individual functions, such as the family and society.
