When in-person testing is required, we do this with plenty of precautions.
I provide evaluations for ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities (like dyslexia and dysgraphia), and Autism. Having worked in the schools for nearly two decades, I can help parents navigate the many options and supports offered at school, including Section 504 and Special Education services. My practice is small but growing, and I put intense value on providing personalized service for families at a reasonable price. For more detailed info, click the "WEBSITE" link below. As of Winter 2025-26: Openings available for new individual clients, couples, and assessments. Therapy can be a powerful and life-changing event in one's life. When working with clients I strive to guide them to create and continue to grow a life that has strong purpose and impact. Good therapy work includes deep exploration, but also improves essential connections with important people and consciously engaging with the world in each moment, whether it be easy or hard, full of darkness or light, in order to live more fully.

In my therapy practice, I work collaboratively with children, adolescents, adults, and families to identify and counter unhelpful thinking and behavioral patterns and ultimately help them to live happier, more successful lives. Using a scientifically supported approach, the therapy work frequently includes discussions of brain functioning and why we act as we do, learning about and practicing concrete strategies to improve day-to-day functioning, and identifying and changing problematic habits (e.g., with thought patterns, exercise, sleep, screens, social interactions, etc).

We provide a range of psychological evaluations in Harrisonburg and Charlottesville–for children, teens, and adults. Assessments for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia (learning disabilities in reading, writing, and math). We also provide evaluations for ADHD and autism. And, because many of our clients also struggle with anxiety, depression, or similar, we can help sort out how these impact day-to-day functioning.

My psychological testing services are competent, collaborative, and grounded in science.
I am licensed in VA and pre-licensed in GA. I work with people on the autism spectrum dealing with isolation, depression, and anxiety. I also work with disordered eating and gender dysphoria. At the heart of my work is a commitment to practicing psychological flexibility, the ability to stay present, connect with what matters most, and take action aligned with your values, even when it’s difficult. This allows us to shift from rigid patterns of coping into more empowering ways of engaging.

I provide comprehensive psychological & educational testing for children (age 5 and up), adolescents, and adults.
Given my experiences in both the clinical and school settings, I am aware of the unique developmental needs of individuals over the lifespan and bring a unique understanding of both environments to my practice. I also use test information in working with parents to help build their toolbox of strategies to implement at home if there are behavioral concerns.

I offer therapy & evaluation ( testing) services for those 18+.
I can talk all about my degrees and education and training but that's not what you care about, is it? You want someone who knows what it feels like to be where you are & to help you heal. You might be feeling "stuck in present pain" (that can be depression) or feeling "fear of future pain" (that can be anxiety). Both are my specialties. I know them well.

Being a psychotherapist means being available to you in a way that is different to other forms of human relatedness. It means I listen to the painful events and relationships troubling you in your life and open a conversation about them between us. This conversation is private and confidential, yet allows for the most honest and accessible way to both explore and understand your reactions and feelings. Although the foundation of my knowledge lies in the psychoanalytic tradition, I incorporate contemporary knowledge and methods that have developed since Sigmund Freud's first discoveries at the end of the 19th century.

What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.

Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.

How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.

How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
