Many high-performers know they are capable of achieving more but feel stuck at times. Do you feel that despite having a lot of things together, something is missing that is holding you back? The clients I work with have typically achieved success in many aspects of life, but they struggle in others. When facing challenges that seem insurmountable, we all can benefit from expert guidance and counseling. As a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of education and experience, I empower high-achieving professionals, athletes, and couples to reach their goals and create the changes in life they most desire.

As a counselor, I understand that trauma occurs at any age, in many different forms. It can be overt, in the case of physical abuse and death; ambiguous, in the form of divorce, break-ups, peer pressure, bullying and the impact of social media. It can also be entirely hidden from our consciousness. Counseling is a way to approach and connect with trauma in a safe place. It is a way to help yourself heal.

I focus on individual Trauma, Couples, and Family. With years of family and individual work I've developed a flexible ability to meet adult and teen needs from parenting, marital, and developmental trauma and transitions of life. My work is informed by an attachment approach where I seek to create safety with you to untie negative relational patterns and move into greater awareness and courage. To assist my clients with underlying issues of trauma, my training in AEDP, EMDR and somatic approaches are well suited. I also use Ketamine Assisted Therapy in my office to break through old, unconscious patterns.

Some of my specialty areas include: addiction and recovery, trauma (physical/emotional/mental/sexual), stress management, nutrition, adjusting to life issues, family (current and family of origin)

I work best with adults who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or stuck in patterns they no longer want to repeat. Many are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, trauma, or burnout while trying to keep up with the demands of work, family, and everyday life. They're often the ones everyone else relies on, but they're ready to start prioritizing themselves.

With trauma-focused therapy, there is hope and there is healing for chronic emotional, physical and relational distress. When you go straight to the root of the issue, you can bring deep, lasting change. And we now know that the root of every mental health disorder, many chronic physical conditions and most relational disruption is some form of unresolved trauma. Trauma refers to any experience or pattern of experiences that overwhelms our resources. If we don't have enough safety, support and understanding to process it, we store it.

I am passionate about helping clients engage their stories in a way that leads to a better understanding of who they are. As a Christian Counselor, I seek to create a compassionate space for you to express your fears, hurts or stressors while combating the shame that often compels us to hide. My role is to guide, encourage, and challenge you as you move towards growth. I also believe not all counseling is about change. Sometimes, circumstances outside of your control lead to a hard season of life. In these instances, I seek to empathize, listen and identify the truths and values that help us feel a sense of calm in a chaotic world.

Are you feeling weighed down by anxiety, depression, mood swings, or relationship challenges? Struggling with alcohol or drug use, or feeling caught in patterns like codependence? Maybe you’re unsure about starting therapy or have had a less-than-great experience in the past. I understand that reaching out for help can feel daunting, but therapy doesn’t have to be unpleasant—it can be a safe, supportive space for growth and healing.

Hello! My name is Jill Burke and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been working with couples in both private practice and research settings since 2000. I use the Internal Family Systems Model of psychotherapy as well as many other very helpful modalities such as EFT, RLT, Gottman. My philosophy is to approach not only my client's but my entire life with acceptance and non-judgment. I believe that therapy should be not only learning about the things that created our present circumstances but also about learning the tools to get out of the hole we've fallen into and to stay out.

Whether you’ve tried therapy before or this is your first time, the process of choosing a therapist and getting started can feel overwhelming. It’s daunting, but important, as I believe the fit between client and therapist is one of the most important parts of treatment. I look at therapy as a partnership and try to adapt my therapeutic approach to each client’s unique needs. My goal is to create a safe space where you feel both validated and challenged. Everyone should have an environment where they feel comfortable discussing their thoughts and processing their emotions free of any judgment.

If your life is not working as well as you believe it should and you are willing to investigate why, you are my ideal client. You may be angry, depressed, anxious, or using food to deal with emotional pain. You may be reeling from the effects of childhood issues, abuse, or PTSD, or in such turmoil that you don't know what is real anymore. You may just need a sounding board. You may be struggling with aspects of your identity, or looking for a way to heal from infidelity, trauma, grief, or loss. We will explore that together.

Gambling Therapists
How do gambling rehabilitation programs work?
There are both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs. However, for some individuals, an outpatient facility may not offer enough hands-on care, and for other individuals, an inpatient facility may be too much. Both types of care have knowledgeable health professionals including physicians (in the case of residential programs), psychologists, counselors, psychotherapists, and recovered mentors.

How do gambling 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Abstinence and maintenance are key for 12-step gambling disorder programs. Individuals in a 12-step group rely on each other for support and accountability. In addition, there is often a spiritual element to these programs, whereby belief in a higher power can help the individual overcome their tendencies. If an individual genuinely wants to cease gambling, attending a 12-step program along with regular psychotherapy can be highly effective.

How long does therapy take for gambling disorder?
Recovering from gambling disorder takes time and effort. There’s no precise timeline for treatment, but a person can see change if they stick with therapy and if they have the will and desire to stop. Treatment for gambling disorder requires honesty in therapy, a commitment to understanding triggers, as well as the development of coping skills. Making lifestyle changes is also important, such as staying away from lotteries, online gambling, and casinos.

Is relapse a problem for those with a gambling disorder?
Gambling disorder is often chronic and can be life-long; therefore relapse may present a problem for some individuals. But effective treatment can bring a person’s life under control. To remain healthy and on track, the individual may need to regularly check in with their support group or psychotherapist. Frequently refreshing their tools of recovery can be helpful.
