I am a firm believer in evidence based treatments and have extensive training and practice in such. That being said, I recognize that "evidence" is usually based on outcomes of clinical trials with very controlled environments where very specific populations with very specific diagnoses are treated. Thus, I find that I am most effective when adapting, integrating and tailoring treatments to my clients' individual needs.

Are you feeling lost, depressed, anxious or overwhelmed? Perhaps you are seeking more out of your relationship with yourself or others, yet feel stuck in old patterns, impacted by past trauma and life's challenges? I hear you. I feel passionately that we all have an innate ability to heal and transform into a happier and healthier version of ourselves, but we can need help and support in that process. I use an AEDP approach to my work (accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy). In AEDP, feeling safe and secure in your relationship with your therapist is paramount and the foundation to my healing work with clients.

I work with adolescents, young adults, individuals, couples, and families to explore patterns, emotions, and relationships.
Often people come to therapy because something in their life or relationships feels stuck, painful, or confusing. You might be navigating life transitions, academic or work pressures, or patterns in your relationships that leave you frustrated or disconnected. You want to feel more grounded, understood, and connected—to yourself, your family, and the people who matter most.

I highly value trust and connection in order for humans to heal. I bring my authentic self and transparency into session in order to give clients the ability to be fully themselves. My goal is to help ease psychological suffering brought on by trauma and other negative life circumstances and then make sense of the overwhelming emotions/responses. It is through compassion and connection that corrective emotional experiences can occur. I believe that our ability to both experience and understand our Self and others is a key component in building secure (emotionally safe) relationships.

I work with adults, young adults, teens, and children who may be carrying trauma, anxiety, depression, big life changes, and the kind of self-doubt that makes it hard to move forward.
I’m not the kind of therapist who sits quietly with a clipboard. I’m warm, I’m direct when I need to be, and I genuinely care about what happens in your life between sessions. I’ll meet you where you are. Not where anyone thinks you should be. We’ll figure out what healing looks like for you. Not a textbook version. Yours.

I am different from most therapists in that I offer solutions early in the therapy process and I give advice. I tend to work well with people who want to get better, but are not necessarily excited about seeing a therapist - or who have not benefited from therapy in the past. It is very valid to seek out a therapist simply for support. It is what a lot of people need. But it is difficult to find a therapist who will help you understand what is perpetuating your problems in a clear and actionable way - and who will offer evidence-based interventions to make your life better as soon as possible so that you can live a happier life.

Through a holistic and integrative approach I support individuals and families to navigate the unique challenges that life has unfolded for them. Whether our work takes place in my office or out in nature, I help my clients identify, cultivate and nourish their strengths and resources. Through our work my clients deepen their connection to themselves, others and the natural world. As these connections grow I support my clients to uncover limiting patterns that inhibit their relationships, creativity and happiness so they can nourish new ways of moving and relating in the world that support authenticity, ease, and joy.

From adolescence to later life years; there are circumstances and predispositions which offer incredible challenges in life.
I integrate awareness of definitions and templates which are influencing how one is experiencing life. How we define things is how we experience them. Both nature and nurture influence this pattern and understanding neurological reactions and relationship patterns can provide powerful tools to manifest a more joyful and fulfilling life.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
