I serve individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence, sexual violence, attachment wounds, and other traumas. Trauma is events, experiences, and their effects. It is the ensnaring voice inside that says "not good enough," it's the feeling of shame and not-belonging, and it's the body's rhythms out-of-sync. Through a healing relationship, I journey with clients in the messy process of change by drawing on their inborn capacity for growth and wisdom. I support clients in reconnecting the stories of the mind, heart, and body such that they attune to the self with compassion, honor their emotions, and ground in the present.

I am passionate about the connection with one's core self. I have found that trauma and transitions can result in a disconnect with the core self and that peace and healing can be achieved by repairing this connection. Pre-adolescence, adolescence, and early adulthood are times marked by a myriad of major transitions. This process of transitioning between life stages continues across the lifespan. Additionally, a disconnect with the core self may be rooted in trauma or transition that happened many years ago. To this end, I provide services to preteens, teens, and adults.

My specialties are anxiety, depression, and trauma .
Have you tried therapy and felt that it was not a good fit or that talking about your problems wasn't enough? I work with the whole person, going beyond traditional talk therapy and integrating exploration of your body's innate wisdom and its role in your healing. By learning how your nervous system reacts to stressors, you will learn to better navigate life's challenges and restore vitality to your life. Some of the populations I particularly enjoy working with are young adults and college students, people who are new to therapy, and empowering those who identify as women during life transitions.

I also have experience and training in providing therapy to couples and individuals around issues of grief and loss, trauma , anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and asperger's syndrome.
I provide therapy from the belief that therapy is a collaborative journey in which, together, we identify what gets in the way of life goals. Then we create a vision along with a plan to go from where you are to where you want to be in their life. I have participated in extensive training as a family and couples therapist with over 10 years of practice experience. Families in which one member exhibits the symptoms of ADHD, ADD, oppositional and defiant behaviors, impulsive and violent behaviors, post traumatic stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and learning disabilities work well with me.

As a strengths-based and trauma -informed therapist, I am passionate about helping clients to repair deeply held wounds, especially relational wounds, which are often at the core of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and addictive behaviors. Though I work with clients to help alleviate their troubling symptoms, my work is more fully anchored in the belief that the sensitive exploration of underlying injuries enables not just symptom-reduction but transformation and growth.

As your therapist, I will guide you to recognize learned patterns of thinking, acting and feeling that may be creating suffering in your life. Together we will explore where and why you learned those patterns. Once fully understood, you will find the courage to transform those learned patterns into healthier ones. I will then guide you to practice these new and healthier patterns in the therapy room as well as in your life outside the therapy room. Once you transform old patterns of relating into healthier ones, you will feel lighter, more confident and happier.

Our services are driven by the needs of our clients and achieving health and wellness outcomes by strengthening individuals, families, and communities. Our approach is based on the integration of mind and body rather than independent organs or systems divided by specialties or functions. Having a common framework as the foundation of our work helps our interdisciplinary team effectively communicate across specialties and uniquely allows us to address specific challenges across multiple facets of life, effectively identify and evaluate options and opportunities, design more effective treatments, and, ultimately, solve problems.

I used a trauma -informed, eclectic approach to tailor treatment for each client.
"I hope you are blessed with a heart like a wildflower. Strong enough to rise again after being trampled upon, tough enough to weather the worst of summer storms, and able to grow and flourish even in the most broken places." -Nikita Gill The impact of trauma , anxiety, or depression in your life can lead you to feel isolated, stuck, or disempowered. As a licensed counselor, I believe that no one should have to manage those feelings on their own. Through developing a strong therapeutic alliance, I assist my clients with identifying their goals for themselves and walk alongside them on their journey towards growth and healing.

I'll help you build trust in your ability to make the best choices for yourself. This means creating awareness of ways you can be more gentle and accepting of yourself as you are now, in addition to identifying areas that you are ready to change. I work with adults of all ages, and have a particular affinity for working with college-aged individuals and young professionals. I strive to meet people with where they are at by providing trauma -informed, culturally-humble support using evidenced-based modalities. This may include a mix of interpersonal, strengths-based, mindfulness, CBT and DBT techniques.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
