As a strengths-based and trauma-informed therapist, I am passionate about helping clients to repair deeply held wounds, especially relational wounds, which are often at the core of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and addictive behaviors. Though I work with clients to help alleviate their troubling symptoms, my work is more fully anchored in the belief that the sensitive exploration of underlying injuries enables not just symptom-reduction but transformation and growth.
As a therapist for four years at The Women's Initiative, I helped clients heal amid challenges such as low self-esteem, childhood and more recent trauma and abuse, grief, and relational stress. As a fiction writer, I am particularly interested in creativity and helping clients to overcome creative blocks.
I place great emphasis on establishing a safe, accepting atmosphere for my clients. While the process of building trust is ongoing, I encourage clients to be open from the first sessions about their level of comfort with me. This co-construction of safety in turn engenders richly healing work.
