Do you feel like your mind won't slow down, you know what to do but can't follow through, or your questioning things that used to feel certain? If you've tried to think your way out of it and hasn't worked, you're not alone. I work well with clients struggling with anxiety and ADHD, particularly when it feels like you understand what to do, but can't consistently apply it. Along with this, I address with clients questions of identity, meaning, and faith- including both those wanting to integrate their beliefs and those deconstructing or redefining them. I help men with complex issues and internal pressure to "hold it all together."

More importantly, knowing and understanding when it’s time for a change in that story. I have a keen interest in helping you discover what’s holding you back and what it’s going to take to move you to the next level- OF YOU. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy ( ACT) to identify what is within your control and radically accept what is outside of it.
I am so freakin' proud you made yourself a priority by being here. Maybe you are a woman navigating big life transitions, while carrying past trauma and too much pressure to succeed; or a mother that is constantly overstimulated, stretched too thin, and burnt out. You mask your needs, constantly are questioning yourself, and as a result anxiety and resentment are running the show. If appreciating the stillness of the present moment sounds unattainable and slightly scary, then I hear you.

Seeking therapy can often be a difficult decision and can create anxiety and ambiguity about what the process may entail. As a clinician, I function from the foundation for a positive experience in therapy which first begins with establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. Doing so, can encourage positive growth towards goals. Therapy is facilitated with transparency about what to expect from the process and goals are formulated collaboratively. Interventions are recommended based on individual's goals and needs. Effective and open communication is encouraged about therapeutic process and progress on goals.

Finding the right therapist can make a meaningful difference in how helpful therapy feels. I believe change happens within a thoughtful and trusting therapeutic relationship, where there is space to reflect, understand patterns, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.

So much of our suffering begins not in isolation, but in relationship, within the bonds that shape us as children, partners, parents, and members of community. As a therapist, I create a space where we can gently explore these relational imprints, experiences of parenting, family, love, and even cultural displacement that continue to live in the body and the psyche. I work with people who carry the invisible weight of unmet needs, ruptured connections, or a sense of not fully belonging.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
