I have experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. While I use a variety of approaches (including AEDP, Existential Theory, Attachment Theory, EFT, and DBT), ultimately I like to let our work together inform which approach suits our time best. I am knowledgeable about trauma-informed practice and bring a lot of my own life experiences into the sessions, through my work as a teacher, professional firefighter, and professionaI musician.

I am a licensed, board-certified therapist with specialized training in working with stress and trauma, adult survivors of childhood trauma, parenting, and attachment issues.
Have you ever felt you know the tools that are supposed to help you manage anxiety, relieve depression, overcome stress, or move forward from painful experiences in your past yet still feel powerless against your pain? Or do you find you know something to be true in your mind but struggle to believe it wholeheartedly? Many clients come to me exhausted and trapped by the same old aches they've always known. I educate and guide practice in research-backed techniques to relieve symptoms, while my primary approach focuses on cultivating a safe, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and attuned therapeutic relationship for each client.

Overthinking. Running on empty. You want to be present and patient, but find yourself reacting with an edge or pulling back just to get through the day. You’re capable, but worn down. I work with adults who are drained by chronic stress, anxiety, relationship strain, and patterns like people-pleasing and perfectionism. You may be successfully checking every box but feel stuck and overwhelmed. You don’t need to be in crisis to start therapy. Many people come in when things feel exhausting and want to understand what’s driving it and change how they show up in daily life.

Maybe you are struggling as a caregiver or parent while still trying to understand and process your own upbringing and childhood; or are a helper experiencing compassion fatigue from a career you love.
As your therapist, I work with you to address mental health symptoms, past trauma, and day-to-day struggles. I utilize expressive art activities, cognitive behavioral techniques, and practical tools to guide you. Unfortunately, I don't have a magic wand to fix everything, but I will be with you every step of the way and we will figure it out together.

The heart of therapy is to experience the possibility of change. Depression, anxiety, our life's disappointments and woundings show up in negative feelings, thoughts and behaviors that interfere with our deepest hopes for living well. Together, in a warm and supportive environment, I hold a safe place for discovery and personal growth through an integrative approach. Here, with new tools, you can search within and explore your basic needs. Within this therapeutic relationship you can begin to begin again. My commitment is to provide a private and caring space for self discovery and a growing sense of well-being.

I believe that therapy should be a partnership and strive to create a warm environment where trust can grow and people can thrive. I hope to help each of my clients identify what makes them their best selves and learn how to leverage those strengths. By finding ways to work with your unique brain instead of against it, we can create individualized strategies that are both practical and effective for you and your ADHD. As a person with ADHD myself, I also know that its effects often reach outside of productivity and organization into psychological and emotional wellbeing.

What does it take to the hero of your own story? Difficulties don't have to be insurmountable barriers, but opportunities for growth. Learn from the more trying times, adapt to changes and persist despite the odds. Resilience shapes your character and sets a precedent for future challenges. It can be hard to adopt a proactive mindset when life is happening nonstop around you but I would like to build an authentic connection with you to explore making some positive and lasting changes. I have learned that there are three aspects of life no one can escape: pain, uncertainty and constant work. You have to learn to love the process.

I love working with someone that has never tried therapy and offering them an opportunity to create a positive and meaningful therapeutic experience. I work best with motivated clients that enjoy mixing in laughter to every conversation, but aren't afraid to be challenged. I truly believe in the potential that lies within us all, and that every person can tap into the best version of themselves. I believe that one of the most fulfilling aspects of life is the pursuit of self-improvement. We all struggle in some way, and working towards bettering ourselves and living in accordance with our values is the key to true happiness.

As a strengths-based and trauma-informed therapist, I am passionate about helping clients to repair deeply held wounds, especially relational wounds, which are often at the core of symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and addictive behaviors. Though I work with clients to help alleviate their troubling symptoms, my work is more fully anchored in the belief that the sensitive exploration of underlying injuries enables not just symptom-reduction but transformation and growth.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
