I have experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and older adults. While I use a variety of approaches (including AEDP, Existential Theory, Attachment Theory, EFT, and DBT), ultimately I like to let our work together inform which approach suits our time best. I am knowledgeable about trauma-informed practice and bring a lot of my own life experiences into the sessions, through my work as a teacher, professional firefighter, and professionaI musician.

I know how important it is to have someone who will listen. I enjoy hearing others life experience, walking alongside them in vulnerable moments, and having authentic moments of honesty, openness, and healing. The goal of counseling is not knowing everything at the start (or even the finish!) but being willing to try, willing to learn, and willing to share. I enjoy helping others gain understanding about themselves and their world, make progress towards their life goals, and feel more stable in their actions and direction. I look forward to helping you with skills and knowledge that you will act on between sessions and beyond.

I have diverse experience in group therapy, individual therapy, and couple's counseling.
My specialty is helping individuals struggling with anxiety, including generalized anxiety, medical anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, and social anxiety. My approach is based in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which works by changing your relationship with anxiety itself rather than trying to reduce or control it. Anxiety is pretty hard to directly control, but more importantly, you don’t need to control or reduce it to start living a more meaningful life. In fact, focusing on reducing anxiety often just means you are focusing more on your anxiety. Let’s try something different.

I've sat across from hundreds of couples who feel exactly the same way.
I take a trauma-informed, nervous system approach to my work. We don't just talk about what's happening, we look at why your body responds the way it does and build skills to change those patterns. My work is structured and goal-oriented using the RISE model I developed from over a decade of helping couples reconnect emotionally and sexually.

It is hard to sleep at night and you find it is hard to enjoy your life, or concentrate on the things that matter to you. You are lost and you worry that you will be overcome by fear and anger at any moment You are tired of feeling numb, but afraid you will be overwhelmed by your feelings at the same time. You are worried that his feeling will never end. If you are a parent, your child does not sleep anymore, and is worried and scared all the time. You do not know how to help your child with what has happened. They are withdrawn or angry and you miss the child they were before.

My path to this work began with my own healing journey and a deep calling to help others access the tools they already carry within themselves. I began my career supporting clients as a life coach 10 years ago, guiding people through transitions, self-discovery, and personal growth. In work with me, individuals move beyond symptom relief toward genuine transformation. My integrative approach weaves together somatic therapy, mindfulness-based practices, attachment theory, and parts work to address the roots of nervous system dysregulation, trauma, chronic pain, and low self-worth. I believe the body holds profound emotional intelect.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
